Outgoing Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson has been fined $2.75 million by the NFL after an investigation into sexual and racist misconduct in the work place.

The allegation against Jerry included three cases of sexual harassment and the use of a racial slur toward a team scout. None of the employees remain with the organization

Richardson, 81, will sell the team that he and investors paid $206 million for in 1993.

New Panthers owner David Tepper is under contract to keep a 13-foot-high statue of Jerry Richardson outside of the team's stadium.

Built in 2016, the statue features Richardson holding a football next to two growling Panthers.

Panthers wide receiver Torrey Smith (knee) is practicing for the first time in a month. Devin Funchess is not three days after having five drops in his hometown of Detroit. Funchess was limping after the game. Also not practicing are center Ryan Kalil, cornerback James Bradberry, defensive end Mario Addison and safety Mike Adams. Kalil and Adams likely a vet day. Tackle Matt Kalil is working on the side, but still no word on when he might come off IR.

If you’re going to compare the running styles of Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton and Seattle’s Russell Wilson, who will meet Sunday in Charlotte, North Carolina, then you might as well get the opinion of the best running quarterback in NFL history.
“There’s really not much difference in their games,” said Michael Vick, whose 6,109 rushing yards between 2001 and 2015 is the NFL record for quarterbacks. “One’s just 6 inches taller than the than the other."

Newton is 6-foot-5, 245 pounds.
Wilson is 5-11, 215.

Who's got the greatest show?

Quarterback Cam Newton said the Panthers (6-4) understand what they have to do to end their two-game losing streak and secure their playoff position heading into Sunday's game against Seattle (5-5), "There's no magic words. There's no magic plays. There's no magic whatever . . . abracadabra, shazam, whatever,'' he said. "If you're looking for that, go play Madden.''

Wide receiver Devin Funchess did not practice for the second straight day with a back injury. His status for Sunday's game against Seattle (5-5) remains in doubt.

Panthers safety Eric Reid said the NFL rescinded his fine of $10,026 for his unnecessary roughness penalty against Philadelphia TE Zach Ertz. He is appealing his fine of $10,026 for unnecessary roughness against Ben Roethlisberger that resulted in his ejection.
