Keve Aluma had 17 points and 12 rebounds, Tyrece Radford added 13 points and Justyn Mutts had 10 points and nine rebounds for the Hokies (4-0) won its 34th consecutive nonconference home game Thursday night. Myles Lewis had 13 points and 12 rebounds for VMI (2-2). Greg Parham added 12 points.

Ayo Dosunmu had 18 points and a career-high 12 rebounds. Kofi Cockburn added 13 points for the Fighting Illini (4-1) and never looked back to regroup from last week's loss to No. 2 Baylor. Matthew Hurt scored 19 points to lead the Blue Devils (2-2), who shot 40% and made 5 of 22 3-pointers.

Brockington leads Penn St to 75-55 rout at No. 15 Va Tech
Izaiah Brockington had a career-high 24 points,10 of 14 from the floor, including two 3-pointers for the Nittany Lions (3-1), who used a 17-0 run early in the first half to grab the lead and never trailed again. Jalen Cone paced the Hokies (4-1), which shot just 37% (20 of 54), had won 34 straight non-conference games on its home floor.

Bohannon scores 24, leads No. 3 Iowa past No. 16 UNC 93-80
CJ Fredrick had 21 points and Joe Wieskamp added 19 for the Hawkeyes (4-0). Frederick, Wieskamp and Bohannon had all 17 of Iowa's 3-pointers. Garrison Brooks led the Tar Heels (3-2) with 17 points. Day'Ron Sharpe had 13 points, and Davis added 12.

Barnes hits winner, No. 20 Florida State beats Indiana 69-67 in OT
The freshman had nine points, five assists, four rebounds and four steals for the Seminoles (2-0). Florida State has won 40 straight nonconference home games, and 10 overtime games in a row. The Hoosiers (3-2) did not make a basket from the floor in the final 4:38 of overtime. Armaan Franklin added nine points and eight rebounds for Indiana.

Duke men's basketball cancels rest of nonconference slate
Duke announced Thursday it would not play any more nonconference basketball games this season "out of an abundance of caution due to the COVID-19 pandemic and to allow the Blue Devils' student-athletes time over the holidays to spend with their families."

NC State men's basketball on pause after positive COVID-19 cases
The school announced the move Wednesday, saying two members of the traveling party have tested positive. That comes after the Wolfpack had to cancel a Bubbleville game against UConn at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut last weekend and postpone Tuesday's trip to Michigan for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

No. 20 FSU tops Florida 83-71 after Johnson collapses early
Highly touted freshman Scottie Barnes scored 17 points and No. 20 Seminoles (3-0) extended its dominance against the Gators Saturday that came after Florida suddenly lost its best player. Johnson, the Southeastern Conference's preseason player of the year, was taken off the floor on a stretcher in the opening minutes and transported to Tallahassee Memorial for evaluation. Florida officials said he was in critical but stable condition and would remain there overnight.

Bacot, No. 16 North Carolina beat North Carolina Central
Armando Bacot had 19 points and 11 rebounds, Caleb Love and Day'Ron Sharpe scored 12 points apiece for the Tar Heels (4-2), and Platek finished with 11.
N.C. Central (1-3) scored the final nine points of the game. C.J. Keyser had 19 points for the Eagles, and Justin Whatley finished with 13.

Radford helps Virginia Tech beat No. 24 Clemson 66-60
Tyrece Radford scored 15 points, shot 5 for 11 from the floor and 5 for 6 from the free-throw line for the Hokies (5-1, 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference), who beat a ranked opponent for the second time in six games. Dawes had 18 points to lead Clemson, including five 3-pointers, while Simms finished with 15 for the Tigers (5-1, 0-1)

Barnes leads No. 15 FSU over Ga Tech 74-61 in ACC opener
Freshman guard Scottie Barnes had 16 points and six rebounds. M.J. Walker scored 14 points and Balsa Koprivica added 10 points and eight rebounds for Florida State (4-0, 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference), which had five scorers in double figures. Michael Devoe had 21 points for Georgia Tech (2-3, 0-1), which used a 15-0 run to get back into the game in the second half. But the Seminoles never relinquished their lead.

Duke Blue Devils basketball player Jalen Johnson out indefinitely with foot injury

Duke freshman Jalen Johnson is out indefinitely with a foot injury and won't play on Wednesday against Notre Dame, the school announced Tuesday. Johnson, a 6-foot-9 forward, is the team's most talented player and top NBA draft prospect. Ranked No. 13 in the ESPN 100 for the 2020 class, Johnson is averaging 11.5 points and 8.3 rebounds through four games. He started his career with 19 points, 19 rebounds, five assists and four blocks against Coppin State on Nov. 28, and followed that up with 11 points in a loss to Michigan State. Duke is just 2-2 this season, with wins over Coppin State and Bellarmine and losses to Michigan State and Illinois. The Blue Devils fell 11 spots to No. 21 in this week's AP poll.

NC State, Saint Louis to play Thursday in late addition to men's basketball schedule


Saint Louis and North Carolina State have agreed to meet Thursday in St. Louis as part of a two-game men's basketball series. The schools announced the late addition to the schedule Tuesday. The two-game set includes the Billikens returning the home game by visiting the Wolfpack during the 2022-23 season. Saint Louis had been seeking a nonconference game, particularly after Saturday's matchup with Evansville was canceled amid coronavirus issues within the Purple Aces program. This will be the Wolfpack's first game in two weeks. NC State last played Dec. 3 and beat Massachusetts-Lowell in "Bubbleville" in Uncasville, Connecticut, but a game two days later against Connecticut was canceled due to a positive COVID-19 test within the Wolfpack's program.

Stanford remained atop The Associated Press women's basketball poll released Monday and picked up first-place votes, too. Coach Tara VanDerveer matched Pat Summitt's all-time win total of 1,098 with a victory on Sunday night over California that kept Stanford unbeaten. She can move into sole possession of the record on Tuesday when her team faces Pacific.

Sophomore forward Matthew Hurt scored 18 points, D.J. Steward had 16 points to go with seven rebounds, while Jeremy Roach scored 14 and Jaemyn Brakefield added 10 the Blue Devils (3-2, 1-0). Dane Goodwin scored 25 points for the Fighting Irish (2-3, 0-1), hitting 10 of 12 shots from the field with four 3-pointers. Prentiss Hubb added 12 points.

Virginia men's basketball restarts, adds game against No. 1 Gonzaga
The Cavaliers (3-1) had four games canceled or postponed because of COVID-19, including Saturday's scheduled matchup with No. 7 Villanova at Madison Square Garden. That game would have featured the past two NCAA champions and will not be made up.

Weekend matchups shuffled to North Carolina-Kentucky, Ohio State-UCLA over coronavirus protocols
The No. 22 Tar Heels will face the Wildcats at 2 p.m. ET, and the No. 20 Buckeyes and Bruins will tip off at 4:15 p.m. in Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. Organizers said the change was to "more closely align COVID-19 testing protocols between the competing programs and their respective conferences." The schools come from the ACC, SEC, Big Ten and Pac-12.
