Dayton forward Obi Toppin has been awarded the Naismith Trophy as college basketball's most outstanding player Friday.
Toppin, a 6-foot-9 sophomore, added to an award collection that includes national Player of the Year by The Associated Press. He averaged 20.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game while shooting 63%.He is Dayton's first consensus All-American, leading the Flyers to a school-record 29 wins as they finished No. 3 in the final AP Top 25 poll after the NCAA tournament was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Oregon s Sabrina Ionescu has added another award to her collection Already named the Associated Press, Women's Basktball Coaches Association and espnW women's player of the year, Ionescu was awarded the Naismith Trophy for the most outstanding women's basketball player on Friday. Ionescu, who earned AP All-American honors three times, shattered the NCAA career triple-double mark with 26 and became the first player in college history to have 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 1,000 assists. She averaged 17.5 points, 9.1 assists and 8.6 rebounds per game with eight triple-doubles as a senior this season. The Ducks finished 31-2 this season, which ended prematurely with the cancellation of the NCAA tournament because of the coronavirus pandemic.

South Carolina's only loss came on Thanksgiving to Indiana, and the Gamecocks started three freshmen all season. South Carolina was ranked No. 1 for 10 weeks this season and finished in the top spot. Staley just finished her 12th season at South Carolina and has a career record of 305-98 along with the 2017 national championship. The Gamecocks have won the SEC tournament five of the past six years.

But the Dallas Wings, with four picks in the first round and two in the second, might impact the draft more than any other WNBA team. The Wings have picks 2, 5, 7, 9, 15 and 21. Whether they make selections with all of those or trade some, draft day will be big for Dallas."This draft is vitally important to us," Dallas president and CEO Greg Bibb said.
