Louisville halts men's basketball activities after 2 test positive

Louisville has temporarily suspended all men's basketball voluntary activities for two weeks after two members of the program tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, the school announced Tuesday."All proper procedures and protocols are being followed, including the quarantining of those impacted," the school stated. "We look forward to a resumption of men's basketball activities in the near future." A school spokesman told ESPN's David Hale that the individuals testing positive were symptomatic and that everyone who came in contact with them also will be quarantined.

Ohio State pauses voluntary on-campus workouts after positive virus tests

Ohio State has paused all voluntary workouts on campus following the results of its most recent COVID-19 testing of student-athletes, the school announced Wednesday, but it didn't release the number of positive tests, citing a concern that it could "lead to the identification of specific individuals and compromise their medical privacy." The scope extends beyond football, as seven teams were impacted by the pause: men's and women's basketball, field hockey, football, men's and women's soccer, and women's volleyball.

The Pittsburgh Penguins announced they are "voluntarily sidelining" nine players from their training camp roster after potential secondary exposure to an individual who tested positive for the coronavirus. NHL training camps opened on Monday, with teams scheduled to travel to hub cities on July 26 and begin games on Aug. 1. The Penguins will face the Montreal Canadiens in a five-game qualification round series. "The team learned of the possible secondary exposure on Sunday, July 12," the Penguins announced in a statement on Monday. "The decision to isolate this group of players was made out of an abundance of caution in an effort to avoid exposure to anyone else within the organization. Florida AD Scott Stricklin tested positive for coronavirus, recovered

Florida athletics director Scott Stricklin tested positive for coronavirus last month but has since recovered, he said Tuesday.
During a Zoom teleconference with reporters, Stricklin said he had mild symptoms that ranged from a runny nose, headache, congestion and chills. After he first felt sick, he immediately got tested for coronavirus and when the test came back positive, he quarantined for 10 days from the onset of symptoms. Stricklin said he had 48 hours where he felt "really crummy" and then another three or four days that "I didn't feel like going out and running a marathon. After that, I felt like I was back to normal." "I thought I was being careful but obviously this is a highly transmittable disease," Stricklin said, adding he was initially mad that he put himself in that situation. "It speaks to the importance of all us doing our part with masking and physical distancing. It's really important. Hopefully, we can help keep others safe during this process by doing our part."

The Panthers coaches moved back into Bank of America Stadium today observing all the Covid-19 protocols, starting with a mask. Rookies that pass two corona tests are allowed in the stadium on Saturday for physicals. Veterans are scheduled to begin the testing procedure necessary to get into the stadium on Tuesday.

The Carolina Panthers are one of eight NFL teams that have their IDER (Infectious Disease Emergency Response) plan approved, according to the NFLPA. The others are Baltimore, Buffalo, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Kansas City and Miami. All 32 teams have submitted plans and they are under review.

Panthers fourth-round pick Troy Pride Jr. signs his rookie deal, his agent reported on social media. First step before first Covid-19 test as Carolina rookies begin reporting today. DT Derrick Brown was the first first-round pick to sign a while back.

Charlotte's MLS team scheduled to debut in 2021 has moved the date to 2022 due to setbacks because of Covid-19. "After a lot of discussion with Major League Soccer, we are confident it is in the best interest of our club and our supporters to take additional time to ensure a successful inaugural season," said Tom Glick, President of Tepper Sports & Entertainment. Panthers owner David Tepper owns the team.
