Cowboys, 49ers flexed out of prime time in Week 15: How did it come to this?
In the 1990s, there wasn't a better rivalry than Cowboys-Niners. They watched each other from afar like Magic Johnson and Larry Bird did when the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics dominated the NBA. The Cowboys won three Super Bowls in the 1990s; San Francisco won one. Since then, the Niners have lost in two Super Bowl trips, while the Cowboys have not returned to a conference title game.

Mike McCarthy reminds how Cowboys' finish in 2020 can affect 2021, too
Whether the Cowboys pull off an improbable finish to win the NFC East and host a playoff game, coach Mike McCarthy still understands the value of a team winning its games at the end of a season.

Dallas Cowboys VP Stephen Jones says Mike McCarthy will return as coach in 2021
McCarthy signed a five-year deal as the Cowboys' ninth head coach in January. In his past 41 games, however, he has a 15-25-1 record, including his final 28 games with the Green Bay Packers. In nine of his 13 seasons, the Packers made the playoffs, with one Super Bowl victory and four NFC Championship Game appearances.

Ezekiel Elliott to miss 1st game in career because of injury
Elliott was held out of two Week 17 matchups in 2016 and 2018 when the Cowboys had their playoff positioning wrapped up. He missed six games in 2017 because of a suspension. He has 832 yards on 211 carries with five touchdowns, but he has lost a career-high five fumbles.

Randy Gregory proud that he 'never gave up'
Gregory's career has been marked by numerous suspensions for violations of the NFL's substance abuse policy that kept him off the field completely during the 2017 and 2019 seasons

Dallas Cowboys News

Cowboys inactives: QB Ben DiNucci, WR Malik Turner, RB Ezekiel Elliott, CB Rashard Robinson, DE Bradlee Anae, LB Luke Gifford, DE Ron'Dell Carter. Obviously, Elliott is the big news. Robinson had been a starter but Trevon Diggs, Chidobe Awuzie and Anthony Brown are back from injury.

Tony Pollard had 16 yards rushing and 46 yards receiving in the first quarter for 62 yards of total offense. The most total yards Ezekiel Elliott posted in the first quarter of a game this season was 36 against the Cleveland Browns in Week 4, according to ESPN Stats & Information. In four possessions, Pollard has 11 touches – six rushes and five receptions.

The Cowboys have struggled in goal-to-go situations lately. In the last three games, Ezekiel Elliott had 5 carries for minus-2 yards. Tony Pollard bulls his way in for a touchdown on third-and-goal from the 1 for a 7-0 lead. The Cowboys now have 15 touchdowns in 23 goal-to-go situations this season.

With a three-and out, the Cowboys have not scored a touchdown now on their first drive through 14 games. They were one of three teams not to reach the end zone in their first possession this season, joining Washington and Denver. The last time they scored a touchdown on their opening drive came in Week 14 last season against Chicago.

Dallas Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott unsure if he can play vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Elliott did not practice leading into the Niners game but coach Mike McCarthy expected all along the running back would be able to get out on the field. He was limited in practice going into the Dec. 13 game against the Cincinnati and had 48 yards on 12 carries.

Like it or not, Dallas Cowboys (5-9) are still in the playoff hunt
In order to win the NFC East, the Cowboys will have to beat the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants, and Washington will have to lose to the Carolina Panthers and Eagles.

Dallas Cowboys finding some young pieces to their 2021 puzzle
The Cowboys might not want to turn the page to 2021 just yet with playoff possibilities remaining, but how their younger players are closing out 2020 offers a glimmer of hope in a season mostly of despair.

Ron Widby, punter for Dallas Cowboys' 1st Super Bowl title, dies at 75
Wilby was selected in three professional drafts in two sports. In addition to New Orleans drafting him in 1967, Widby was drafted by the New Orleans Buccaneers in the 1967 ABA draft and by the Chicago Bulls in the NBA draft that same year.

Dallas Cowboys News

Ezekiel Elliott will play Sunday vs. Philadelphia despite a calf injury, according to a source. He was listed as questionable after going through three limited practices during the week. Elliott missed his first game due to injury last week against San Francisco. Elliott said Wednesday he felt like he was on track to play against the Eagles.

At Oklahoma, CeeDee Lamb caught passes from Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray and Jalen Hurts. The Cowboys lost to Mayfield and Murray and get to see Philadelphia's Hurts on Sunday. “It speaks volumes about OU,” Lamb said. “They're definitely a quarterback factory. The three guys that I played with, it's huge. It speaks volumes on them, too, just to be named starters in their organizations. I'm proud to actually have this opportunity, play the whole season and to play against them guys.”

Sean Lee does not sound ready to walk away as a player to become a coach just yet. “You kind of go back and forth on things at times as you get older,” he said. “But the problem is anytime I go on the field and I get to play and you make a couple of plays, you're like, ‘Well, I like this too much.' And that is my problem: I love this game too much. I love this organization a lot. And I love playing and I love playing the position, linebacker. I joke to my wife that I'm addicted to it at times.”

Trevon Diggs and Jalen Hurts were close friends at Alabama before the Eagles quarterback transferred to Oklahoma for his final season. Now Diggs gets to play against Hurts Sunday when the Eagles visit AT&T Stadium. Would he like to get an interception of his buddy? "That's always the main goal, to always create turnovers and stuff,” Diggs said. “But with him especially, him being one of my good friends and all, it's time to turn it on."

Who's going to win NFC East? Washington the favorite, but Giants and Cowboys aren't far behind

If the Kansas City Chiefs were in the NFC East, they would have an eight-game lead over the Washington Football Team and Dallas Cowboys, nine over the New York Giants. The division race would have been over before Thanksgiving. Washington or New York seem most likely to emerge with this honor -- either at 7-9 or, welp, 6-10. And they started the season by winning a combined one of their first 10 games. ESPN's Football Power Index gives Washington a 58% chance to win the NFC East, with the Giants (24%) and Cowboys (17%) falling in line. If Washington (6-9) wins its season finale against the Eagles, it clinches the division. But if Washington loses, the winner of Sunday's matchup between the Cowboys (6-9) and Giants (5-10) takes the crown.
