Ezekiel Elliott has run for 92 yards in the last two games, but he is not frustrated. In fact, he looks at it differently than most running backs. “The passing game is rolling right now so you've got to ride it and ride it while it's hot,” Elliott said. “Hopefully, it's rolling through the rest of the season and you don't need to run the ball. Not really looking at it that way, the receivers and Dak are rolling right now. When someone has the hot hand keep giving them the ball.”

Jason Garrett is impressed with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. “He's arguably the greatest player that ever walked. You think about his level of excellence over the last 20 years, I don't think it's comparable to anybody,” Garrett said, adding, “It seems regardless of what circumstance he's in he always finds a way to be his best and get the job done and help guys around him to get their jobs done. He and coach Belichick are an unbelievable combination, the best that ever walked in this league.”

Right tackle La'el Collins (knee) is not practicing, but the team is hopeful he can play at New England. Wide receiver Amari Cooper (knee) is working in a Wednesday practice for the first time in three weeks while DeMarcus Lawrence (shoulder) and Jeff Heath (shoulders) are also expected to see at least a limited portion of practice time. Guard Connor Williams is back to work after missing last week's game because of knee surgery. Linebacker Joe Thomas is sick and not practicing

The Cowboys have signed cornerback Deante Burton off the Indianapolis Colts' practice squad to replace Anthony Brown, who tore his triceps in last week's win at Detroit. Jason Garrett said the Cowboys worked out Burton a few weeks ago and like his versatility. The Cowboys, however, might not dress five cornerbacks this week at New England, so it gives them a chance to add a player to the roster in a developmental role.

Tom Brady jokes he has disliked Cowboys 'since coming out of the womb'
The 9-1 New England Patriots host the 6-4 Dallas Cowboys on Sunday in a matchup of two of the NFL's marquee franchises, and quarterback Tom Brady had something to get off his chest. "I've really not liked the Cowboys since coming out of the womb," he said Wednesday with a touch of humor. Brady, a native of San Mateo, California, who grew up a San Franciso 49ers fan, sparked laughter before turning serious. Brady, 42, has faced the Cowboys only four times in his 20-year career. He is 4-0 in those games.

"I've got a lot of respect for those guys. They've had a great winning organization, and a lot of great players in their history," he said. "As a Niners fan, you play the Cowboys, and every time they'd hand off to Emmitt Smith it would be a 5-yard gain and you'd pull your hair out. Throw it up to Michael Irvin, and Troy [Aikman] was such a great player. The defense -- Ken Norton and 'Prime Time' [Deion Sanders]. So the history of great players, the tradition."

He also reflected Wednesday on meeting legendary Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach, whom he referred to as "such a cool guy and someone to really look up to." Brady then complimented the current Cowboys team, saying, "It's going to be a huge challenge for us. I love the opportunity to compete against great teams this time of year as Thanksgiving approaches. It means a lot for both teams."

Dak Admires Brady’s Career, Excited For Sunday
At this point, Dak Prescott hasn’t even imagined playing quarterback at age 42 like Tom Brady.“How many years is this for him? 20th?” he said Thursday. “It’s mind blowing. Crazy impressive.”
Prescott is focused on being his best in Year 4, and specifically this week against Brady’s 9-1 New England Patriots team. But the 26-year-old has been around the league long enough to know how much commitment it takes at the quarterback position. That’s one of many reasons why he respects Brady so much. “People say ‘The GOAT, he’s the GOAT.’ He is,” Prescott said. “I don’t think it’s comparable, the things that he’s done.”

Another is Brady’s path: a former sixth-round draft pick who replaced injured Patriots starter Drew Bledsoe in 2001 and never looked back. His six Super Bowl titles are unmatched by any quarterback in league history. Prescott still knows exactly how many quarterbacks were drafted ahead of him in 2016. Seven. The former fourth-round draft pick is having a career season in 2019, leading the league in passing yardage (3,221) and tied for second in touchdown passes (21). There are so many intangibles to succeeding at quarterback, and Prescott continues to learn them into his fourth season. It’s one reason he believes Brady has stayed on top for so long.

“But if you can continue to grow and continue to get better and sharper and smarter, you have a chance. That’s what Brady has done. He’s the epitome of that and he’s an example for anybody and every young player starting to play this game.” All that said, Prescott’s focus this Sunday isn’t outplaying Brady head to head. He’s well aware of the challenges presented by New England’s top-ranked defense. The Patriots are holding opponents to just over 10 points a game. They’ve forced 28 takeaways, the most in the league. And, as always under head coach Bill Belichick, they’ll adapt week to week to any given opponent.

Prescott anticipates he’ll visit with Brady at some point Sunday before or after the game. But he’s not going to get wrapped up in a battle-of-quarterbacks storyline.
“It’s me vs. this defense, him vs. our defense,” Prescott said. “An exciting game. “This is a good test for us, I guess you could say, going on the road, going against a championship team. Since I’ve been in the league, they’ve been in the Super Bowl. It’s an exciting matchup.”

Cowboys LB Leighton Vander Esch (neck) out vs. Patriots
Vander Esch's injury flared up in practice, which led to an MRI. Garrett said the linebacker was week-to-week. As a rookie last season, Vander Esch was named to the Pro Bowl, started 11 of 16 games and was credited with 176 tackles by the Cowboys' coaches. He also had three tackles for loss, five quarterback pressures, six pass breakups and two interceptions.

Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott undeterred by 92 rushing yards in two games
Elliott is eighth in the league in rushing, trailing Carolina's Christian McCaffrey by 226 yards, which means it is likely he will not win a rushing title for the first time when he plays a full season. He remains on pace for 1,333 yards, which would be his lowest in a full season, but 12th-best in a franchise history that includes the NFL's all-time leading rusher, Emmitt Smith, and Hall of Famer Tony Dorsett.

The Cowboys aren't playing the Cowboy way on offense. Is that good or bad?
Are the Cowboys playing too fast? Is Elliott the victim of extra defensive attention, or is he actually not playing well? So what do we make of all of this?

The Cowboys aren't playing the Cowboy way on offense. Is that good or bad?

Are the Cowboys playing too fast?
That they are playing faster than they used to play is not in dispute. The 2019 Cowboys average 26.6 seconds between plays, which is calculated from the start of the play clock until the snap. That's the fifth-fastest rate in the NFL. In 2016-18, they averaged 29.6 seconds between plays, which was the third-slowest. Former offensive coordinator Scott Linehan was often criticized for running a plodding offense, and the numbers show that he absolutely did. New offensive coordinator Kellen Moore has picked up the pace. But if you're running plays three seconds faster and running only three more plays per game, it's easy to see how the time of possession edge gets wiped out.

Is Elliott the victim of extra defensive attention, or is he actually not playing well?
He is not doing as well, however, when his offense has the numerical blocking advantage. Against non-loaded boxes this season, Elliott is averaging 4.2 yards per carry, which is 0.2 less than the league average, 0.2 less than he runs against loaded boxes and 0.8 less than his average in those situations in 2018.But there's evidence to dispute that, too. Elliott is averaging a career-high 5.4 yards per carry when the Cowboys have the lead, which is a huge part of his job. And he's converting a career-high 71% of his third-down rushes into first downs. So he has been Zeke-level excellent in certain crucial situations.

So what do we make of all of this?
The Cowboys are playing faster than usual, which has resulted in eye-popping numbers for Prescott and the offense as a whole but also has led to extra exposure for their defense as a result of reduced time of possession. And for the Cowboys, reduced time of possession increases the likelihood of losing. So while they might expect opponents to start focusing more on stopping their passing game, opponents probably shouldn't take the bait. Prescott has reached the point where it's a pick-your-poison situation for opposing defenses. But it should be easy to decide which poison to pick. If you don't stop Elliott, you can't get the ball. If you don't stop Prescott, you might still give up points, but you'll get more chances to score points of your own.
