Cowboys won't fire Jason Garrett during season
Dallas Coeboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones and executive vice president Stephen Jones will allow Jason Garrett to finish the season as the team's head coach. That is the plan even though Jones has been publicly critical of Garrett and the coaching staff since the team's 13-9 loss to the New England Patriots in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on Sunday. That is unusual for Jones, who has been Garrett's most ardent supporter throughout his career. Garrett is in the final year of his contract. Jones told 105.3 The Fan in Dallas before Thursday's 26-15 loss to the Bills that he hoped his criticism would inspire the team.

The Cowboys failed to score a touchdown on offense, created no turnovers on defense and allowed a blocked punt that set up the game's only touchdown. Despite Thursday's loss, Dallas is still assured of being no worse than tied for the NFC East lead heading into Week 14 regardless of what happens in the Eagles game against Miami on Sunday. The Cowboys are now 6-6 and have yet to defeat any opponent with a winning record. Garrett's team is 0-4 in games decided by four or fewer points.

Dallas Cowboys Schedule - Regular Season

WEEK-2: W
Prescott beats Redskins 31-21 with legs and arms

WEEK-3: W
Dak Prescott, Cowboys get out of funn, ease past Dolphins 31-6
Prescott threw two touchdowns to Cooper before running for another score. Miami outgained Dallas in the first half (216-204). Ezekiel Elliott (125 yards on 19 carries) had his second straight 100-yard game after missing the entire preseason.

Safety Vonn Bell's force fumble and two recoveries help New Orleans stifle Dallas offense that had rolled through its first three games.

WEEK-5: L
Aaron Rodgers, Packers at home of Cowboys again in 34-24 win
Rodgers looked quite comfortable at the home of Dallas. RB Aaron Jones had 4 TD's. The first three Green Bay wins over the Cowboys at their 10-year-old stadium were all dramatic. Jones had a career-high 182 scrimmage yards -- 107 rushing and 75 receiving.

WEEK-6: L

WEEK-7: W

Cook leads Vikings to 28-24 prime-time road win over Cowboys

Cook, the NFL rushing leader, easily outplayed two-time rushing champion Ezekiel Elliott as Minnesota Vikings beat a winning team on the road for the first time in almost two years. Minnesota was 0-9-1 in its previous 10 such games.

WEEK-11: W
Cowboys get huge day from Prescott, beat Lions 35-27
Prescott threw for 444 yards and three touchdowns. The Cowboys (6-4) have won three of four games at least in part because Prescott has been tough to stop, with 10 TD passes and three interceptions during the successful stretch. WEEK-12: L
Pats hold Cowboys' No. 1 offense without TD in 13-9 win
Tom Brady threw a touchdown pass and the Patriots' defense held the Cowboys' top-ranked offense without a TD for the first time this season. Dallas (6-5) had a chance to take the lead late. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says he's sticking with Jason Garrett
For better or worse, Jerry Jones is sticking with coach Jason Garrett, as the Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager continues to believe better days are coming in the final month of the season, even after Thursday's dismal 26-15 loss to the Buffalo Bills. "This is not the time for me [to make a coaching change]," Jones said outside the locker room with tears in his eyes. "I'm looking ahead at another ballgame. I'm looking ahead at winning four or five straight and helping write a story they will talk about, how it looks like you're down and out. And I mean that. That's the way that I'm operating. Every decision that I make over the next month will be with an eye in mind to get us in the Super Bowl now.

Despite losing for the sixth time in nine games, the Cowboys (6-6) will remain in first place in the NFC East regardless of how the Philadelphia Eagles fare Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. Garrett's future has been a topic since the season began, and speculation intensified this week after Jones' critical comments following last weekend's 13-9 loss to the New England Patriots, which the owner called a "significant setback." The next challenge is next Thursday at the Chicago Bears (6-6). Garrett entered the season without a contract for 2020 and knowing he would have to win to secure a second extension from Jones. The Cowboys went down a similar path in 2014 after Garrett had three consecutive 8-8 finishes, then went 12-4 and won the division and a playoff game.

Potentially affecting Jones' decision to keep Garrett is where he would look for a successor. The defense, under passing game coordinator Kris Richard and defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli, gave up points on five of six possessions Thursday and has gone four straight games without generating a turnover. Offensive coordinator Kellen Moore has been on the job for only 12 games, and the offense has not been effective in the past five days, scoring only 24 points.

Cowboys left guard Connor Williams' season ends with torn ACL

Just as the Dallas Cowboys received good news regarding the health of wide receiver Amari Cooper's left knee following Thursday's loss to the Buffalo Bills, the team lost left guard Connor Williams to a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. Williams left the game in the second quarter after an Ezekiel Elliott run, but returned for the opening series of the third quarter only to be pulled after a false start. An MRI confirmed the tear. Williams did not play Nov. 17 against the Detroit Lions after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left knee, but he returned to play Nov. 24 against New England.

Cooper suffered an injury in the fourth quarter when he took a helmet to his left leg after making a catch. He was able to return to the game and further tests showed no structural damage, Cooper has played through heel, ankle and quadriceps injuries throughout the season but has not missed a game.

Even with team at 6-6, Jerry Jones would bet on Cowboys' talent
Despite the 26-15 Thankgiving loss to the Buffalo Bills, which was the Cowboys' sixth defeat in their past nine games, the positives for Jones still outweigh the negatives. He is dreaming -- which might be the best way to describe it of this team coming back from this low point to write one of the best chapters in franchise history.

Cowboys' Dak Prescott: Time for talk is over, 'I'm going to do more'
Leading a 6-6 team that has lost six of its past nine. "When it's times like this, it's more lead by example. Talk is cheap, right?" Prescott said. "We've talked a lot. We've talked a bunch and got ourselves right to where we are. In a moment like this, I say hell with the talking and I'm going to do more. I'm going to work harder.

Week 14 NFL Power Rankings: 1-32 poll, plus who's under fire in the final month
The NFL Power Rankings looked at players, coaches and executives on the not seat in the preseason. Now that we're in the home stretch of the regular season, we figured we'd revisit this subject and see who was under fire going into the final month.

No.13: Dallas
Who's under fire: Jason Garrett, head coach/Jerry Jones, owner.

Garrett has to be at the top of the list. He entered the season in a win-or-else situation because he was in the final year of his deal. Jones is responsible for the coaches and players on the roster he is also under fire, but since he owns the team, he isn't going anywhere.
