Lamar Jackson leads way for Ravens' NFL-best 12 Pro Bowl selections

Lamar Jackson ended the Baltimore Ravens 23-year drought without a Pro Bowl quarterback, and the league's top team celebrated an NFL-best 12 players receiving invitations to the all-star event scheduled for Jan. 26 in Orlando, Florida. Jackson, the front-runner for NFL Most Valuable Player, became the first Baltimore quarterback selected to the Pro Bowl since Vinny Testaverde in 1996, the franchise's inaugural season. The only team that has gone longer without a Pro Bowl QB is the Miami Dolphins, whose last Pro Bowl quarterback was Dan Marino in 1995, according to research by the Elias Sports Bureau.

In his first full season as an NFL starting quarterback, Jackson leads the NFL with 33 touchdown passes and has run for 1,103 yards, an NFL single-season record for a quarterback. He topped all players in this year's Pro Bowl fan voting, receiving 704,699 votes, nearly 165,000 more than any other player. The Ravens (12-2), who own the NFL's best record, tied an NFL mark for most players on the Pro Bowl roster before injury replacements. The 2007 Dallas Cowboys, with 13 Pro Bowl players (two alternates), hold the record after injury replacements.

Darren Sproles to retire, says 'I gave it everything I had on every play'
A fourth-round draft selection in 2005, the 5-foot-6 Sproles is No. 5 on the NFL's all-time list for all-purpose yards (19,696). His best season came with the Saints in 2011, when he rushed for 603 yards, hauled in 86 receptions for 710 yards and scored 10 touchdowns all career bests. Sproles was the 15th running back drafted in 2005 the 130th overall pick.

Source: Antonio Brown working out for Saints

Free agent Antonio Brown is getting a workout with the New Orleans Saints on Friday morning as the team does its due diligence on the embattled wide receiver, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Brown posted a picture of his workout waiver on social media Friday morning, but it has since been deleted. Saints star receiver Michael Thomas has been limited in practice this week with a hand injury, but sources have suggested his ailment is not significant and that Brown's visit is not related to Thomas' status.

Brown, 31, is being investigated by the NFL under its personal conduct policy after a lawsuit filed by his former trainer Britney Taylor that alleges she was sexually assaulted by Brown on multiple occasions. Brown also was accused of sexual misconduct at his home by an artist who was working there in 2017. On Sept. 20, the NFL released a statement that said Brown would not be placed on the commissioner's exempt list while he is a free agent, but it warned, "If he is signed by a club, such placement may become appropriate at any time depending on the status of the investigation."

Earlier this season, Payton said the Saints weren't interested in Brown. Brown has played in only one game this season, Week 2 against the Miami Dolphins. He was released by the Oakland Raiders before the season and by the Patriots before Week 3, after it was made known that he sent text messages to the artist who accused him of misconduct.

Giants LB Markus Golden earns $1 million bonus after stat change

A stat correction from Sunday's New York Gaints victory over the Wasington Redskins allowed Markus Golden to earn a $1 million bonus. But after further review -- which happens on a weekly basis with certain disputed plays -- a correction was made. Golden was credited with the full sack. It gave him 10 this season and triggered the lucrative incentive. The Giants signed Golden to a one-year, prove-it deal this offseason. It was for $3.75 million, with the additional $1 million available if he reached double-digit sacks. Golden has done his part, performing at a pre-injury level. Golden had 12.5 sacks for the Arizona Cardinals in 2016, but he injured his knee the following year. He had 2.5 sacks combined in 2017 and '18. Golden is the first Giants player to reach double-digit sacks since Jason Pierre-Paul (12.5) in 2014. Golden has been the Giants' best pass-rusher this season by a wide margin, leading the team in sacks (10), tackles for loss (17) and quarterback hits (27). He has more than twice as many sacks and quarterback hits as anybody else on the roster.

Tom Brady, Brett Favre, Joe Montana, Peyton Manning among All-Time Team QBs

You have first pick for the NFL's All-Time Team's quarterback. The 10 possibilities are Joe Montana, Tom Brady, Johnny Unitas, Otto Graham, Sammy Baugh, John Elway, Peyton Manning, Roger Staubach, Brett Favre and Dan Marino.

Have fun
.

Members of a special panel of 26 selected all of them for the position as part of the NFL's celebration of its 100th season. All won league titles except Marino. All are in the Hall of Fame except Brady and Manning, who are not yet eligible. Although Graham actually won seven championships -- four in the All-America Conference and three in the NFL -- Brady owns the most in the NFL with six Super Bowl rings. He's a four-time Super Bowl MVP and a three-time league MVP. The Patriots have won their 11th straight AFC East crown with Brady behind center. At 42, he has yet another chance at a title. Favre is the only player to win three consecutive NFL MVP awards.

Panthers Christian McCaffrey chasing 1,000-1,000 without much help
McCaffrey has been saying for weeks that joining Roger Craig and Marshall Faulk in the 1,000-1,000 club won’t mean quite as much because the Panthers aren’t a playoff team. San Francisco went 10-6 and made the playoffs when Craig established the 1,000-1,000 club in 1985. The St. Louis Rams went 13-3 in 1999 and won the Super Bowl when Faulk became the club’s second member.
