Trump is never going to be able to work with AOC or the rest of the hate America socialists, so he loses nothing by "alienating" them--they're *already* alienated. But by siding with Pelosi et al, he 1) gives them the chance to mend fences with AOC et al, knowing that this is impossible and won't happen and 2) plants the seed that he's willing to work productively with Pelosi et al to accomplish something. Since the Dems have the house for at least another year or so and the GOP proved largely useless the first 2 years, he needs some cooperation to get things done.
