My condolences. Close or not you probably felt something (I would think!) If nothing else it must remind you of your own mortality, and who needs that!
 
That sucks, no matter what your relationship was. Hope you are doing OK.
 
Thats very young. Sorry for your loss. :(

I lost my step dad last September. We were close , he gave he a bunch of his shop tools before he died. We went for long drives in the mountains twice a week and drank beer , smoked bud and drank whiskey. I tried to make his last days fun.

I hope you do get his house, you can settle down and fix it up the way you like it or sell it to buy a home that fits your liking. Its nice to own a home where you can plant a tree and see it grow.

Sorry for your loss, Menty. I lost my own father when I was 15 and he was 47.
 
I lost my mother 19 years ago, and my father 10 years ago. I still dream about them, and still sometimes recognize the unique, surreal feeling of being...untethered in this world, for lack of a better word. It's a feeling no one can know until it happens, and then it becomes something you carry with you each day forward.

Thanks for the condolences though I don't feel an emotional reaction to his passing. We had no relationship and the whole event is more of a curiosity than anything else. Although nobody should die that young so I feel bad in that way like I would with anyone.

I don't think I'm being cold. When my stepfather was diagnosed with emphysema last year I was very upset. But then he did have a hand in actually raising me.
