Battlestar Galactica

Pretty good episode. Everything that happened made sense. They've been looking for Earth since the start so finding out it's a big nuclear wasteland would be a pretty big deal. Same with the Alliance with the cylons (though it was weird that the Chief was speaking for the cylons instead of a Six or someone.) Baltar's drunken rant was good. Frak God.

The Starbuck/Gaeta part was the best scene. "Is this how you get your kicks now? I'm sorry, half-kicks."

Yeah that was the highlight, as unpc as it was, pitty the rest of the episode was so damn slow and uninvolving.

I think the six that got knocked up has some if not all of Ellens memories, which is why he sometimes see's her face on her, and why he seems so much closer to her now.

It would be ironic if Adama has caught cancer by cosying up to Rosyln too often after her radiotherapy treatments, a situation agrivated by being on the radiated earth.

Yeah, I was thinking Adama could be the "dying leader" now...didn't he have a near heart attack when he found out about Tigh being a cylon?

And as someone else said he's been taking lots of pills lately.

The idea that Ellen was actually a Six is something that's popped up a few times as well. It's believable, but I don't think it's the case, personally.

You know when Tigh, Tyrol etc had their flashbacks to Earth? Did was see the faces of any of the other cylons living there with them? Were they all individuals or were they the other seven cylon models? (I don't think we saw.)

You didn't really need to invoke RDM, we all saw the episode. Yeah, they were all sorts of ordinary people.

I'm pissed off that they've found Earth they havn't brought the the FLYING MOTORBIKES.

So, I thought about this during Wacky's latest top 10 edition.

The song that Dee is humming before she offs herself...is that the same one that Boomer hums when she's getting cozy with the Cylon raider Starbuck brings back? Or are they completely different...OR AM I JUST LOSING MY MIND

It's different:

Bear McCreary said:
After [Dee] says goodnight to Lee, she steps before the mirror, humming a little tune, which served as the basis for the Dualla theme:

Actress Kandyse McClure improvised this melody on set during production. She described that “there was no previous discussion about it, it was just kind of stuck in my head – at first I wasn’t even really aware that I was humming. It was just comforting to me in that moment – something like the hymns my grandmother would sing around the house when I was a little girl.”

Michael Nankin was so moved by it, he contacted me during his director’s cut and asked if there were a way to incorporate it into the score directly. He later told me “the humming is something that Kandyse did in one of the takes and I loved it immediately. So we repeated it in every shot thereafter. It was so haunting. It reminded me of the opening titles of ROSEMARY’S BABY, where the score is Mia Farrow’s hummed lullaby. It was haunting and perfect for the moment. I believe I called you from the set to talk about it. I insist you put it on the next CD.”

I wove this tune into the fabric of the score to Sometimes a Great Notion. Like “All Along the Watchtower” and “Gaeta’s Lament,” this theme is yet another example of the boundary between score and reality on Battlestar Galactica being blurred. Listen for it being played (usually by Chris Bleth on the bansuri) in every scene with Dualla on screen in this episode.

Thanks!

The music from the show I really enjoy is the piano music Starbuck's father plays.

The peice Starbuck's dad played was Metamorphosis Five by Philip Glass, from his album Solo Piano.

S'good CD.

Groovy.

The article assumes that Obama will be able to really change things significantly. Good read, anyway!

Is it me, or has Richard Hatch got really fat in the face?

It's cool how they let the actors improvise and add it to the score and stuff. When can we expect to hear "Gaius Baltar IS THE MOTHERFUCKING SHIT" in an episode?
