Where is the Random Thread of Randomness stuff that doesn't belong in other threads thread?

I got rid of Hulu after snl moved to peaCOCK.
I will have to see if I can stream meTV?
 
It's an over the air subchannel, so if you have a TV you can connect a set of rabbit ears to and live in a metro area you can probably get it that way. I thought they had a free online stream going as well, but I'm not seeing it.

There isn't tv or radio where I am surprisingly. So everything is done online, we have that at least.
 
 
IMO, Wonder Woman hasn't held up particularly well. I remember enjoying it, despite the choice to put it in WWI instead of WWII, but I was killing some time before bed last night and watched one of those ...reacts videos for it and was completely underwhelmed. I think it was appreciated when it came out because the bar was so fucking low for DC movies that it just had to not completely suck to be enjoyable.
 
So apparently boiled peanuts are a thing. And chestnuts are a pain in the ass. I'll spare you all the vagaries of this saga, but the bottom line is that if you roast them too soon after picking they have so much moisture in them that they get moldy if you don't eat them right away. And if you roast them too long after picking, by the time they've fully cooled off they're too hard to eat. So I've hit upon putting a handful in a ramekin, covering them with water, and nuking them for a minute. It softens them up enough to be edible (I should mention that I also soak them in water while I'm prepping them for roasting).

So, while we have the wonderful Mel Torme/Nat "King" Cole Christmas song, I'm thinking boiled chestnuts is the way to go. (And apparently boiled chestnuts are a thing too.)
 
I am experimenting with TLT. I have long been to fat and old to eat bacon and last year I reluctantly dropped ham. Even more reluctantly dropping/radically cutting back alcohol has turned out to be the key (but that's another story) so last time I went shopping I picked up one of them frozen boneless turkey breast loaves to make turkey sammiches. First one was my standard lunch sammich--bread, brown mustard, lettuce, meat, onion, cheese (Swiss), and (in this case) tomato. It was fine but I ran out of mustard. So the next day it occurred to me to do a "TLT" and it was surprisingly good. You really don't miss the onion and the cheese. But I realized it wasn't 100% proper--I'd used cold turkey and hadn't toasted the bread. So today I tried toasting the bread and throwing the meat on the griddle for a bit. Gotta say I didn't think it was as good. So now I've got to try grilled meat on bread and cold meat on toast. Hell, and maybe variations of toast, grilled turkey, cheese, and onions. Culinary science is fun.

Speaking of which, I do a dish based on a recipe of Mom's, with pork chops in a mushroom sauce with peas and a baked potato. When I was done I still had ample mushroom sauce left over--as well as extra potatoes. The frozen turkey loaf came with a bag of frozen gravy mix so I nuked and cut up a few small potatoes and then dumped them and a slice or two of onions into the mushroom sauce, along with the bag of turkey gravy and nuked it a bit more. Oh, and threw in a few cubes of turkey breast for good measure. It was pretty tasty.
 
Y'ever out driving and get stuck behind someone so oblivious to their surroundings that you wonder how they're still alive? That was me this morning. Lady in front of me was just . . . absent. No awareness of the stoplight turning green, no turn signals, stopped in the middle of the road to decide if she really wanted to go straight or right . . . argh. It's enough to make you want to commit horrible crimes.

I have been in a car with someone oblivious-its annoying.
Its usually when we are still in the neighborhood streets-my sister will stop and access maps or something on her phone and I'm like, "There is someone behind you" "They can go around" she says, "Well then wave your arm out the window then"
Like wtf its so cringy to sit in the passenger seat when this is happening.
 
I like to check my wallet for my credit card while driving and make sure I didn't leave it behind at the last place I used it. My friends and family without a car reluctantly ride in my car.
 
I just had some asshole ask me if there was a Survivor season 50 watch party going on in town. Who the fuck watches that shit, or cares?

But in out defense, we know someone who was in Survivor. They are now our states attorney general.

That bullshit started in the late 90s. How is there 50 seasons of it now? Are they doing 2 seasons a year?

Honestly, I didn't know that was still going on... that's how much I watch network TV or even CBS.
 
Yes Survivor does 2 seasons a year. Amazing Race is still around too, so is Big Brother. They've all been around for about 25 years.

They're cheaper to produce than scripted shows and people still watch. Done deal.
 
If SNL was still funny, I'd love if they did an "Amazing Racist" parody. One of those sketches that you have to catch when it airs because they'll never rerun it. Like "Jew, Not a Jew". You can even find "The Blame Game" on YouTube IIRC, but not that. [OK, I was able to find a 15 second clip, but not the entire sketch.]
 
One of the screws holding my 14 year old laptop together is stripped.* How does a screw get stripped on a laptop? Or has it been stripped for 14 years and I just never knew because I never tried the screws before?

*When the speaker/sound card died I started experimenting with what opening it up entails but so far haven't gone beyond accessing the battery and the hard drive. Yesterday I was using it for my weekly bookkeeping (because I can't get any of my software to run on the W11 box) I noticed the screen hinge was very sloppy and there was a gap at the back, where the top and bottom halves of the case meet. If the speaker starts working again after tightening up some screws I will be happy, but I doubt it will. Interestingly, certain sounds will work with headphones plugged in during boot. But once the computer is up, sounds won't work in programs--even with headphones in.
 
Gah. Stupid MS Solitaire and the dangers of being too clever: Playing. Doing well. Got good cards and played them smartly. Near the end of the game. Played a card and realized that, if I waited until the next time around I would be able to play that card as well as the card beneath it, so I backed up one turn and put the card back into the stack, was able to play things exactly the way I wanted to on the next round--and then promptly lost because I couldn't get to a red queen I needed. On a hunch, I undid the game back to where I changed my mind and, sure enough, if I'd have played things the way I'd done it in the first place I'd have got the queen and been able to win the game fairly easily.
