Buffy: Slayer of the Vampyrs.

I forgot to post these the other day. She has definitley had some work done but she still looks fabulous so I'm not fussed!

I'm not going to claim to be any sort of expert on TV scheduling but does Sarah taking this job when a potential full season pick-up of Buffy is on the horizon make sense? Also, how is JELLY ROLL everywhere now!?
 
If it's on Netflix I assume it isn't broadcasting live and they'll just tape a bunch of episodes at once. Shouldn't take up too much time.

I hope Sarah doesn't leave Freddie for Jelly Roll. His raw masculinity is hard to resist...

Also he's a Grammy Awards favorite (he's been nominated multiple times but never won, but they have him perform at all the shows)

I only know about him because he's become a bit of a WWE celeb mainstay. He even had a match! (did better than expected tbh) and since then I've been seeing him everywhere.

Have you seen Ready Or Not (it's a movie)? It's good and I'm looking forward to seeing Sarah (and Frodo) in the sequel (on streaming.)

I noticed it was Ryan Kiera Armstrong's 16th birhtday today (I look at IMDB every day for the bithday thread, it's not that weird) and wondered if we'll get any news on the reboot before she's 20. I obviously don't know much about how tv is produced but it's been six months or so since the pilot was completed and you'd think we'd know more by now.

We all felt something was up for a while and now it's confirmed. I DO wonder why though. My only guess is that the pilot just failed to inspire confidence because from a financial standpoint the Buffy franchise name carries weight and would have got a lot of eyeballs on it so I can only ASSUME that what they produced just wasn't that good? That must be it right? There was plenty of hype around this. The pilot must have been pretty bad to not even try to rework it. I wonder if it will ever leak.

It did feel like now or never for SMG to come back to play Buffy. I'm sure they will try and trot out a spin-off in a few years again but I doubt she will even want to participate now.

What a shame. :confused:


ANYWAY, I will keep this thread alive with updates from Buffy alum (mostly Sarah I guess, I'm not posting Nickys Facebook fireside chats) and general musings because I still watch Buffy/Angel sporadically ALL the time.

I'm surprised they didn't try to retool it and film a second pilot. I mean, that's what an unaired pilot is for, right? Working out the kinks before you move forward. Maybe Hulu just decided there's no way to make Buffy work in 2026, for some reason. But...Scrubs just relaunched and is actually quite good. It surely wouldn't be IMPOSSIBLE to do the same with Buffy, if they were willing to put in the work. We'll probably never find out more and there's no point speculating! I wonder if they regret doing that announcement video with Sarah and the new slayer now that it's turned out to be for a show no one will ever see.

Chloe Zhao is obviously a talented director but she has no experience as a showrunner. It's a very different type of job. OH WELL.
