Oklahoma State is one win away from the championship series in the 2022 WCWS. Florida will meet UCLA on Sunday for a chance to play in the semifinals against Oklahoma.

UCLA is on to the semifinals after shutting out Florida. Holly Azevedo pitched six innings for the Bruins, giving up only two hits. Azevedo is now 21-2 this season with a 1.22 ERA.

WCWS 2022: Why Oklahoma softball's dominance extends beyond the batter's box
Oklahoma coach Patty Gasso knew it sounded strange as she said it out loud. Something good came out of a loss? But hold on a second, because she can describe the silver lining of Monday's 7-3 defeat at the hands of UCLA. A month ago, the Sooners' march to the WCWS -- a wire-to-wire run as the No. 1 team in softball, with the top ERA and the top batting average in the game -- was nearly derailed when ace pitcher Jordy Bahl felt something pop in her right forearm as she warmed up during the last series of the regular season against Oklahoma State. Immediately, she shut it down and hasn't started a game since, only appearing in a few innings of relief this week as she continues to work her way back.

Texas Longhorns first unseeded team to reach Women's College World Series finals
Texas stormed back from five runs down to beat Oklahoma State 6-5 and reach the Women's College World Series championship series for the first time in program history. Texas coach Mike White, who will be making his first WCWS final appearance, admitted that he never would have thought as recently as a month ago that his team could go this far in the tournament.
Texas advances to play top-seeded Oklahoma in the best-of-three series starting on Wednesday night. The Longhorns (47-20-1) handed the Sooners (57-3) their first loss of the season in April but lost the rematch last Saturday, 7-2.

Doubleheaders in Women's College World Series semifinals threaten player safety, say coaches
Oklahoma bounced back from losing a Women's College World Series semifinal to UCLA on Monday, dominating the Bruins in a game that started 30 minutes after the first one concluded. The Sooners handled it fine, but Gasso still called it a player safety issue. She likes that the NCAA's Division I Competition Oversight Committee added a day between the semifinals and finals, one of several popular changes made before the season. But she would give it up for more time between the semifinal games.
