2024 US Open: News, how to watch and everything to know

Gauff Loses to Navarro: Updated US Open Women's Tennis Bracket After Sunday's Results

The 2023 U.S. Open winner has been eliminated in the Round of 16. Third-ranked Coco Gauff lost to No. 13 Emma Navarro in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, on Sunday at Arthur Ashe Stadium, ending her time at the US Open much earlier than last year when she beat Rebeka Masarova in the final. Navarro will now advance to the quarterfinal for the first time where she'll face Paula Badosa.

Navarro won the first set comfortably and went up 4-3 in the second set, but Gauff came storming back to win 12 of the last 15 points and force a third set. However, Gauff's struggles were evident in the final set as she put together a string of faults and didn't have enough to advance to the quarterfinal. Navarro has had Gauff's number in Grand Slam events this year, beating her Olympic teammate at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships earlier this summer. The two young stars, Gauff 20 and Navarro 23, are setting up to be an exciting rivalry for years to come, but Navarro won the battle this time.

With Djokovic and Alcaraz both out, who will win the US Open title?

Another day, another stunning upset at the US Open. Just 24 hours after Carlos Alcaraz was handed his earliest exit at the tournament, defending champion and No. 2 seed Novak Djokovic lost to No. 28 seed Alexel Popyrin, 6-4, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, in the third round on the same court. Djokovic, who had knee surgery in June, later called his performance "awful" and said it was "some of the worst tennis" he had ever played. The 37-year-old admitted he felt drained after an intense summer schedule, which saw multiple surface changes. Djokovic officially concluded his Slam season without a title for the first time since 2017. It's the first season a member of the Big Three (Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer) didn't win a major trophy since 2002. And the tournament is now the only Slam to not have the men's No. 2 or 3 seed in the round of 16 in more than 22 years.
