Honestly, not sure if I'm going to keep this up all the way through. It's a long ass game even on a medium galaxy and even with screenshots it's hard to show what you're doing strategically.

But we will see.

I'm starting a new campaign today and lets see how I do.

I'm a pretty good player all things considered but on tough...well..they're not lying. It's not an easy game.

I like using a custom race so I can decide on every aspect of the race I'm going to play before hand.

Here are the galaxy settings for this campaign. Just going to be playing on a medium size galaxy here:

I'm lucky with a good starting position on the edge of the map. And it looks like there is a decent star density close to my homeworld so I should have some good colonization options and be able to keep my empire somewhat contained which is how I like to play.

I've rushed production on a factory to get on my feet and have balanced other buildings across the planet and set the specialization of the planet to social:

Updates? I'm actually playing the latest add-on so it looks kinda different. Whenever it isn't crashing, that is.

I decided to uninstall my version the game (Endless Universe) and installed Ultimate Edition with the 2.01 patch.

I'm on a new campaign (obviously) and I really like the changes in the new patch. I'm 297 turns in to the campaign and I've not had an easy time of it.

The Terrans have run rampant and destroyed the Korx and taken all their territory.

I'm currently waging an influence war on them at my borders. Direct military action would be foolish to say the least at this point.



My strategy from this point is to attack me neighbors (Iconians) who are less powerful than me. With their territory and techs I might just be able to make a run of it and face up to the Terrans. That's if the Terrans don't take the opportunity to attack me first that is.

In 300 turns I haven't had anyone declare war on me which is odd since I didn't have a huge military to act as a deterrent. The Terrans have hit me up for credits a few times and I've handed them over without any fuss because it's not worth pissing them off.

The AI is pretty damn great. Especially in the new patch. It's been bloody challenging so far and there is no guarantee I'll be able to change it around and gain an upper hand. I reckon even if I do manage to annihilate the Iconians and take their territory and worlds it will just create two superpowers in me and the Terrans and it might end up going all the way to a cultural victory.

We shall see.
 
How do we know this isn't just a dry run for your plans to take over the Earth!? :shock:

I think I'm actually on version 2.02 for some reason. Won an ascension victory last night but then again that was on simple. I'll give "beginner" a shot some time over the weekend or something. It's been well worth the $40 I spent already though. :D
