A reflection on a long 'Career'.

Hambil

I AM A GOLDEN GOD
I won't call this an "I'm leaving" thread, it's not. I'll be around now and then, but something changed today.

I know many think, and say, TK is not the place for 'reality', but I've been here a long time, allow me this one post.

Although I had many frustrations here, I had many good memories. I loved writing modifications. And it thrills me more than you can know to come here and see some of them still in use, like the karma mod.

I had many wonderful conversations with Cait and Miss Manners, and even Sardy in the old days, and then later Eggs.

We played jokes, we messed with people on the board (Mostly driven by my evil mind and mm's desire to just mess with folks).

I thought the folks on the board where having fun with us. Perhaps they were not.

If that is the case, I really do apologize.

Yeah, it's just a message board, but that would not be what I wanted :(

Anyway, obviously I will not be buying the board. I will be around should my help ever be needed though.

what happened today that was so significant?

your offer to buy the board was turned down?

It's personal. Just something that gave me some insight. The offer didn't get turned down - I haven't even talked to Mentalist yet.

Probably for the best. Your karma mod is nifty keano and some of the stuff you used to do was pretty cool, but "owner" is a job that requires a very thick skin and let's be honest, your mood takes more wild swings than a playground in a hurricane.
Besides TK as you remember it is dead. Nothing to see here. It is a graveyard of empty memories and forgotten glories, punctuated by brief flurries of nostalgia...

Wait wait I got another one: "Let's be honest Hambil, your mood takes more wild swings than Elin Woods with a nine-iron."

Or " Hambil, your mood takes wilder swings than Ndomikan Su after a running play."

Ok best one ever: "Hambil's mood takes wilder swings than an epileptic little leaguer." God Dammit I wish I thought of that one first...

Outrage at perceived injustices kept this board alive and kicking for a long time. TK was never at its strongest when talking about other God Forsaken Hell Holes of the internet. We always had a soft spot for our own God Forsaken Hell Hole at home. TK at its most dramatic was as a squabbling family drunk on whiskey at Christmas and having a punch up because we're sure someone is cheating at monopoly.

Anyone that took any of it too seriously needs help. Though I think ALL of us have probably taken it too seriously a few times.

Anyway, obviously I will not be buying the board. I will be around should my help ever be needed though.

Trust me Hambil, you wouldn't actually want to own this board. It's expensive to run and hard to manage with anything other than single minded and consistent apathy.

I hope you stick around.

I've been there, Menty, remember (not as owner, but pretty damn close). I have no strong desire to own the board, but I don't want it to die either, or suffer unduly.
