I should read the books again, because now I think the wand stuff probably works really well as it was the only credible way Harry could defeat You Know Who.
I just didn't get why Harry grabbing Draco's wand (not the Elder Wand, just his normal wand) from him made Harry the master of the Elder Wand...I guess wands just follow a weird code.
I liked the battle better in the book as everyone was standing around them watching them duel whereas in the movie they were outside on their own. I'm sure Fred's death was sadder in the book too (and "NOT MY DAUGHTER YOU BITCH" came right after it so was more raw.)
I guess you're right about the wand business. Frankly I was surprised that Rowling was able to adequately write herself out of all the loose ends she'd left along the way. But she definitely explained away some things for the sake of convenience just to move things along...
It was funny how it took so long to destroy the locket but then all the other horcruxes it was just "oh it's probably RIGHT THERE!" and then it was right there.
