...and the writers on "Saturday Night Live":

Jokes typically have a punchline. They don't just end. Sketches are like that too.

I know this isn't exactly a new problem. Heck, last I watched SNL I'd channel surf until Norm MacDonald's Weekend Update. Then I'd go to bed. But that was, like, 12 years ago. That the show is still on the air made me think maybe, somehow, it had gotten better.

I was doing some stuff in my room, with the TV on in the living room. The news had wrapped up and I happened to come in just in time for the beginning of a SNL sketch. It was about 5 minutes long. It was Christmas, and a family was getting ready to open presents. The twin brothers in the family wanted nothing more than a calculator. In the end the twins...GOT A CALCULATOR!

This Christmas I wanted nothing more than that SNL would not suck. Next Christmas I've decided I want to murder everyone involved in the SNL with a rusty claw hammer. :bergman:

For Xmas 09, Id like nothing more than for you to murder everyone involved in the SNL with a rusty claw hammer.

I was surprised too. I accidentally caught a new episode of "The Simpsons" too. Well, part of a new episode. After around 7 minutes I changed the channel because it was tedious and unfunny.

One of these days I'm going to find out "Friday Night Videos" is still on the air.

The demise of the Simpsons is a little sad. I used to love that show, but now I cant stand watching it. Total shite. Are they still making new episodes?

Just buy the SNL seasons and watch those once a week in lieu of the newer stuff.

Volpone, do you get Almost Live in Portland?

There was a time . . . in the 90's . . . when Almost Live was syndicated on Comedy Central. I can't prove it but I remember it with every fiber of my being.

Interesting. I attended the last Almost Live viewing or something in Seattle and met that John Keister guy and maybe Bill Neigh or something and maybe one of the chicks. I want to do another show like that now. How would one do this then?

You will need:

Improv/comedy actors
Funny writers
Experience with television
Equipment
Costumes
Props
etc,

Local Access TV should be an excellent resource as far as experience and equipment goes, at least it was when I was involved with it back in HS. I’d love to help with writing and acting when I make it back to your side of the mountain.

Are you saying The Simpson's movie and Night at the Roxberry were good or bad? I don't speak much 4chan.

The Simpsons Movie was fine. People's expectations were always too high for it, as if it was supposed to cure cancer or something.

The spider pig movie? It wasn't too bad for The Simpson's. I knew the Roxbury movie would suck.. the skit was OK but who wants to watch a movie about those two?

Night at the Roxbury and The Simpsons movies were terrible. They were just skits/shows that got stretched to make a movie. They were both mediocre plots, too.

Those movies were when I realized that their respective sources had peaked and were on their decline.
