Ranking 2024 WNBA rookies: Angel Reese, Caitlin Clark, more​

A lot can happen over the course of a month in the WNBA. Chicago Sky rookie Angela Reese has gone on a historic double-double streak. The Indiana Fever's Catlin Clark became the WNBA's first rookie to record a triple-double. And Cameron Brink, who was No. 1 the last time we ranked the WNBA rookies, was lost for the season to a torn ACL after only 15 games.

Clark, Reese, 'looking foward' to WNBA All-Star Game pairing
The two, who played against each other in the 2023 women's NCAA tournament national championship game and 2024 Elite Eight when Clark was at Iowa and Reese was at LSU and three times in the first half of the WNBA season, have momentarily embraced being teammates. They spent time working on a pick-and-roll together during Friday morning's practice.

While Clark and Reese will play in the All-Star Game, both declined invitations to participate in Friday night's skills competition -- Clark in the 3-point contest and Reese in the skills challenge.
 
Sky's Angel Reese becomes 2nd fastest to 20 double-doubles in loss
The No. 7 draft pick has grabbed double-digit rebounds in 20 consecutive games and set the double-double record after just 27 games. Reese is now two double-doubles shy of matching the Sky single-season record (set by Sylvia Fowles in 2011) and the WNBA rookie record (set by Tina Charles in 2010).

Catlin Clark had a career-high 31 points and 12 assists in her final regular-season matchup with fellow rookie sensation Angel Rees, leading the Indiana Fever to a dominating 100-81 win over the reeling Chicago Sky on Friday night.

Reese had 10 points and 11 rebounds, breaking a tie with Tina Charles for rookie double-doubles with 23 and passing Sylvia Fowles for the Chicago season record. - Clark shot 8-for-14 from the field, including 5-for-9 on 3-pointers, in her 11th double-double.

We tried to take into account rookies who made an impact in multiple categories during their first season and also whether they performed feats that were historical not just for rookies but players in general. Only two true guards -- Clark and Diana Taurasi -- made this list.

Reese was drafted the lowest of any of the players who made this top-10 list: She was picked No. 7 this year out of LSU, where she won the 2023 NCAA title. But Reese has been a huge success as a rebounder. She established the WNBA single-season record for rebounds (446) and set the mark for most consecutive double-doubles (15). Her season was cut short by a wrist injury, but the forward still played 34 games.
 
Wilson tops Reese's single-season rebound record
Reese's rebounding record, set Sept. 1, lasted less than three weeks. She played only two more games before suffering a wrist fracture that ended her rookie WNBA season. Reese averaged 13.1 rebounds per game, compared to a career-high 11.9 for Wilson, who had never previously averaged double-figure rebounds.
