Annoying Phrases or Word Trends

The Question

Eternal
"I'm going to be honest with you."

Anyone who feels the need to emphasize that they're being honest *in that particular moment* is almost certainly habitually dishonest -- otherwise 'being honest with you' wouldn't be a notable thing for them.

I never understood the phrase,"what you see is what you get"
I think they mean that they have nothing to hide, but sometimes I think maybe they should.
Didn't that phrase originate with comedian Flip Wilson?

Didn't that phrase originate with comedian Flip Wilson?
Wilson certainly popularized the expression but it was already in general use before he adopted it as a catchphrase. A form of the phrase had been used by advertisers in the USA since at least the 1940s to indicate a straightforward, no-fuss form of trading. An advert for a Filmo Sportster camera in The Charleston Gazette came close to 'what you see is what you get' in November 1949:

People (usually in the gamer community) who refer to the Magnum Research (originally Israeli Military Industries) Desert Eagle as a "Deagle."

It's two syllables. You're "saving" two fucking syllables. Why not call it a fucking, "Ezzert"? Yeah. that's how fucking goofy and stupid "Deagle" sounds.

"why are you so quiet?"

The Question

Spelling the word 'thick' as "thicc." There is literally zero fucking reason to deliberately misspell a word like that. Stupidity as an affectation is, indeed, stupid.

Another commonly misused phrase is, "One In The Same." The actual phrase is, "One And The Same." Meaning: Two subjects or objects thought to be individual and distinct from one another are, in fact, a single subject or object exhibiting different traits when seen from different perspectives.

Fuck that. Seize the day by the throat, hoist it up so that its feet are dangling in midair, punch the back wall as if using the day as a roll of quarters, then fling the day to the floor and stand there silently until the day fucking guesses what you want and scrambles out the door to get it done for you.

Don't just 'seize the day' -- fucking ambush the day.
