Anyone here Major in Electronics?

I have my BS in Electronic Engineering Technology, but that was quite a few years ago. When I was in school, we designed circuits mainly by using a software program called the ORCAD system. Is this something thats still being used today, and if not, what has evolved in place of it?

OrCAD has been acquired by Cadence. The layout tools are still available in v16.3 but Cadence is phasing OrCAD out for Allegro.
From what I can tell it is a more sophisticated tool and a little hard to get around in...or it's their crappy tutorials that make it seem more confusing that it really is.

Cadence (Allegro) and Mentor Graphics (PADS) are the big boys on the block.

Cadsoft offers a free version of EAGLE and it is pretty damn good for 2-layer boards.

I have a copy of OrCAD 16.3 at home though.
