Bashir's dad was a wuss and kind of creepy and pudgy.

They should have cast Roshan Seth as Mr. Bashir. And Shirley Anne Field as Mrs. Bashir. And Daniel Day-Lewis as Bashir's secret genetically-enhanced homosexual lover.

Would the episode have worked more, if every time he appeared, the Steptoe & Son themetune played, along with a very quick burst of canned laughter and applaused, followed by a little bandy-legged 'Cockney walk about', before launching into his lines as if nothing had happened?
