Battlestar Galactica

I loved season one and most of season two.. but even a die hard fan like myself, can only take so much. Season three has been boring, and silly. I know the Cranksters haven't seen it yet so I won't spoil anything.. but the writers have drifted away from the survival aspect of the show and it's more along the lines of a social theme of the week.. one week racism, the next working conditions of the poor. In the meantime they've forgotten about the Cylons and finding Earth is only mentioned in passing.

A fourth season has been ordered along with a TV movie due out in September.

So it sounds like it's being turned into yet another daytime/nighttime soap opera?

Oh shit, not another Star Trek Next Gen syndrome of "shitty cultural/social message of the week" bullshit?

I'm afraid so you guys. The show has always had social and cultural messages but they were much easier to swallow in the beginning because the show was so great. I just don't know what the writers are thinking. I'm still watching, but I swear I've had to lower my expectations in order to enjoy it.

You know, the cliche is that christians "cram their beliefs" down everyone's throat. I've yet to do any such here or anywhere else and I'm a full-blown Jesus-freak.

But the public is expected (and accepts) getting whatever social theory/fad crammed down their throats every fucking minute of every day.

Discouraging.

It would help if it wasn't so blatantly obvious that they are trying to make us ponder the social implications. Genocide, racism, class structure.. blah blah. I just want to escape reality for an hour, not get a lesson. That's not to say that I don't enjoy sci fi that has religious and social themes, but BSG is not presenting them in a believable manner anymore.

If you were watching the current season you'd probably be pissed.
