I think it's an interesting development. "Good" characters don't die, they just get retconned, shit-canned, or change *ahem* teams.
 
More politically correct bullshit.

Notice how the article talks about how the staff was "surprised" at the response, even though this is the first public announcement of it.

Translation: "we're giving you PC bullshit, making it sound good, and you will like it."
