Bear Hunting!

missmanners

grrrrrrrr...
I just came back from The Hatfield-McCoy counties of West Virginia... where it's almost bear season. A couple of days ago, I was driving some twisty road...one of those only a West Virginian can appreciate... straight down the mountain on one side of the road, crumbling rocky overhang on the other. Narrow, switchback curves, (my aching shoulders!!!) kind of icy and HUGE coal trucks trying to run me over!

So.... I was following 3 locals in a beat up old car, they had some deer (dead I assume) tied to the top and must NOT have ever been in scouts, because those deer were not tied very securely. As the car weaved all over the road, I could see the deer sliding... so I slowed down. I did NOT want dead bambi bouncing off and hitting ME! Eventually bambi (and his two cousins) did bounce off, right into the path of an oncoming coal truck. There were pieces and parts all over EVERYwhere.

I dont think it was an hour later, I heard this song on the radio...

I Came Upon A Roadkill Deer

(Parody of It Came Upon A Midnight Clear)

I came upon a roadkill deer
A sorrowful sight to behold
He lay upon the highway's edge
His body was stiff and cold

I bet he never saw the car
Careening through the snow
The lights shone brightly in his eyes
And then they laid him low

I came upon a roadkill deer
And lifted him off the road
We'll all enjoy a Christmas feast
Of Bambi sloppy joes

Be careful of those gravel bits
They really get stuck in your teeth
We'll place the antlers from his head
Upon our holiday wreath

I came upon a roadkill deer
A sorrowful sight to behold
He gave his all to bring good cheer
As bumper misteltoe

Is anyone here from West Virginia?

Whats with those pepperoni rolls anyway?

:D
mm

Did you know that the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, where I was born, raised, and currently live, leads the nation in the number of deer/vehicle collisions?

I DID, BECAUSE I'VE COME CLOSE TO HITTING A DEER AT LEAST 10 TIMES A SEASON FOR THE LAST 12 YEARS!

HEEHEEE...mm...you'll never know *gasp, giggle* how much I needed that visual.
oh, and those lyrics.....:D
