Ben and Widmore

Remember when Ben went to see Widmore, and Widmore asked if he had come to kill him, and Ben said "We both know I cant do that"?

I wonder if its because of all the time travelling Ben has seen Widmore in the future, and knows he cant kill him until the right year?

Maybe the island won't let him kill one of its children.

I thought Others were allowed to kill each other (hence Juliet being cast out after killing Pickett to save Sawyer and Kate.) Of course, Young Widmore murdered another other but lied to Richard about it. And Ben shot Locke (who's suppose to be the leader of the Others somehow) intending to kill him and Ben doesn't seem like the type to follow rules.
