BG @ the movies pt 2

Ok, Captain Wacky and Mentalist, You two DEFINATELY need to see this.
I can see both of you squeeling with glee and creaming your shorts at some of the costumes.
And she does actually act the part very well.

Over all, I thought the movie was great, acting, story, points and barbs on the current politics, and the obvious similarities to WWII.
Good message and strong movie.
I never read the Alan Moore comics, so I'm taking the movie on it's own.

Hugo Weaving. Agent Smith as V. You'd never know it.

Saw the trailers for XMEN 3, Superman returns, Pirates of the Caribian 2 (pardon sp), ... can't remember the other two. Some remake of a disaster flick.
Xmen 3: definately see it
PotC2: Cathulu!!! (or and Ad&d mind Flayer.) Definately see it.
Superman returns: WTF!? A fucking remake of the first movie? Christopher Reeve will always be the best Superman in my book. You can't erase him by remaking his stuff!! gawd-damned, fucking lack of originality hollywood money grubbing shittyass remake-because-we are stupid moviemakers.
that is all.

I have to see this movie now. I'm going to have to go to the cinema here though which I hate doing but it may just be worthit.

Superman Returns isn't a remake btw. It's a loose sequel to Superman II.

He leaves earth after the General Zod attack and this is the RETURN.

They are going to do the origin part again but the events in Superman I & II did happen and III and IV are being left well enough alone for obvious reasons.

I found it to be an exceedingly odd movie in the beginning, until things really started to converge. Then it really got rolling and was very good. The political commentary was a touch ham-fisted, but for the purposes of the story, I suppose it had to be.

There was a trailer for Poseidon also, a remake of Posiedon Adventure that looks like its grand and hammy on the scale of Titanic.

Also, on the subject of Hugo Weaving, he took over the role of V on short notice, after James Purefoy complained about not being able to "emote" properly while wearing a mask for the whole film. I want all you people to see it and then tell me if Hugo Weaving didn't pull off a top notch performance in spite of or even because of that same mask?

I was Thoroughly impressed with Hugo. I couldn't have guessed it was him till the credits rolled.

wtf. Superman III was great~~

Superman III was a Richard Pryor film that just happened to have Superman in it.

Am I the only one who has read the original V for Vendetta novel?

Can someone give me some insights on how it correlates with the original works? Is this a fucking geek board or not?

Yeah, he did -- and IMO it was because of the mask, not in spite of it. A lot of actors couldn't have done that, because a lot of them are wooden where their voices are concerned. But Weaving took the "disadvantage" of no facial expression being allowed and it really let him shine as a voice actor and by acting through kinesiology.
