Bit Torrent

There are a bunch of different clients you can use; Azureus, Bit Comet, Bittornado, BitTorrent. Each has it's own learning curve.

Uh, let's start with the basics. I have no idea what this program can really do. What you just said makes no sense to me.

So, basically, it's like other p2p software, but the technique is superior in some hazy way I won't bother to look up, so you use it for big files.

You start by downloading a .torrent file, which you can search for at bittorrent.com, thepiratebay.org and a whole shitload of other places.

You then open the file with whatever application you have, and, presuming your firewall isn't being a shit, you can download whatever huge file the .torrent points to relatively fast.

More seeders = good.

Presumably you're using the client you can download from the official site?
 
Does anyone know a site that specilises in ISO's, so you can get an exact DVD copy, including extras and commentaries.

Some of the AVI files quality leaves a lot to be disired

The program makes the internet worth having. Simple as that.


Bittorent is the most diverse p2p systme in the world, you can get anything.

Once you have the client installed. Everyone has allready reccomended Azureus and they're right you can go searching for torrents on torrent sites would you believe.

Its just like clicking a link. It akes some getting used to but it's worthit. every TV show, movie, game, album everything you could want. It's like being trapped in HMV with someone elses platinum card a few months in the future when everything is released allready.

Ok, I've downloaded azureus. Now It's saying I've got a NAT error. I opened my firewall settings and opened the port it's requesting to use. Where can I configure my IP settings to resolve this?
 
Are you connecting to the internet using a router, or are you going straight to your broadband source?

If you have a router, what kind is it? If not, is your OS X firewall on?


Everyone forgot that you're runnin' OS X but they recommended the best torrent client for the Mac anyway, Azureous. PC only torrent clients like BitComet and uTorrent are fucking sweeet, though, worth owning a PC, IMHO. Bittorrent is ok for one at a time downloads, but you can tweak Azureous more. Get started with Bittorrent and see how you like the concept.
