Blood is thicker than water

All along it was a fever
A cold sweat, hot headed believer
I threw my hands in the air, said, "Show me something"
He said, "If you dare, come a little closer"
Round and around and around and around we go
Oh, now tell me now, tell me now, tell me now you know
Not really sure how to feel about it
Something in the way you move
Makes me feel like I can't live without you
It takes me all the way
I want you to stay
It's not much of a life you're living
It's not just something you take, it's given
Round and around and around and around we go
Oh, now tell me now, tell me now, tell me now you know
Not really sure how to feel about it
Something in the way you move
Makes me feel like I can't live without you
It takes me all the way
And I want you to stay
Ooh, the reason I hold on
Ooh, 'cause I need this hole gone
Well, funny you're the broken one
But I'm the only one who needed saving
'Cause when you never see the light
It's hard to know which one of us is caving
Not really sure how to feel about it
Something in the way you move
Makes me feel like I can't live without you
It takes me all the way
I want you to stay
Stay
I want you to stay
Ooh

It doesn't feel fair
There were stains on the carpet that were washed clean long ago
then beautiful flowers and a new rug that covered over all of the past hurts
A redemption story
a beautiful story of love

and then

a dark cloud
begins to form
something isn't right
it can't be
this is a mistake
the truth will be found out
and then
it is
the truth
the ugly truth has been given light
and devastation sets in

How can the same thing that happened years ago
be happening again?
How can the same pattern be repeated?
How can the lesson not be learned?
Why is there such selfishness

The show Bloodlines. It was on Netflix, or is on Netflix. Guy kills his brother to save the family name and then the show is just a series of the whole family trying to save themselves or thier family name.
I get it now.

But I dont' get supposed proffessed christians-
"I'm going to kill that person to keep them from sinning"
to kill is a sin

If they weren't fucking stupid, they'd be smarter than to be Christians.

I didn't grow up in a christian home, but a friend brought me to church when I was a teen. I think it saved me from going down a path that would have been harmful to me. But then as I got older I began exploring more and learning about other spiritual practices and beliefs. I don't think people who seek or believe or go to church are stupid, but some of them sure do stupid things, and they think they are perfect. I will never profess to be perfect or have all of the answers. Ridiculous.

When someone presents you with a made-up problem, then demands that you surrender your free will (and money, of course; they always want your money) in order to comply with the "solution" to that made-up problem...

It takes stupidity to fall for that. That doesn't mean that these are 'bad people' per se (though many of them are). But it does mean that their ability to process the situation accurately is compromised. Or, to put that last bit more succinctly: they're stupid.

Of course, organized religion isn't the only scam that works that way. "Here's a problem I just made up. To solve it, give me your shit and do what I tell you" is just a mechanism. That mechanism is common to a lot of scams; organized religion, anthropogenic climate change, socialism, a bunch of sketchy schemes have it in common.

That's why religious right wingers make me fuckin' chuckle. Does no good to dodge one version of that old bullshit engine if you're going to just turn around and fall for another version of the same thing.
