Bought my first Mac yesterday.

It's a Mac Mini, the lower-end unit with 1.83Ghz Core 2 Duo processor, 1Gb of RAM, 80Gb HDD and ComboDrive. Loving the shit out of Leopard, just plain kicks ass, and even the Intel GMA 950 graphics subsystem is surprisingly good, running Second Life (at recommended settings) far better than the same chip under Windows XP did.
 
Wow! People keep surprising me right and left by adding a Mac to their arsenal. That market share must be inching up bit by bit...

I am pathetically overdue for a new Mac. My G4 tower is 6 years old and doesn't even have a DVD drive. I use Windows at work, and my iPod is Win formatted so I don't have much call to use it these days.
 
I beta tested Vista. I thought Vista was the shit.

I was wrong. Believe the hype -- Leopard blows every version of Windows ever produced out of the water.

I want to try one out before I buy it but they are not sold anywhere even close to me.

I have read up on the lower end mac pros but dont want to buy a $4000 unit I dont even know how to run and cant even see with my own eyes first.

So I will just end up with a new HP and call it good.
 
You'll love the Leopard upgrade in a fw months, too when this system obsoletes.

I just bought a 2.8g 260gig everything for about 400 bucks that makes XP hum. Fuck Vista in the neck.
 
Vista may suck, but XP does not. 2 gig RAM 1 gig video ram and nothing can stop you.
 
Xp has ram limits unless you run xp64.

I am wanting my new system to take up to 8+ gigs of ram. If I build it I can use a server or workstation mother board that will handle up to 32 gigs and the PCIE bandwith is way faster.

Leopard upgrades so far are free. First thing I did on completing the config wizard was take it online and jump from 10.5.0 to 10.5.2. Cost me nothin'. And considering how nice Leopard is, I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with for 10.6 (whatever it may be named.)

Ever notice how most Mac users are skinny? It's because of all the calories they burn because they can't shut the fuck up about how great their Macs are. What is it about Apple that makes its users unable to shut their mouths? Everywhere I go, there's another asshole with a Mac preaching about how much better Macs are than PCs. They regurgitate lines directly from Apple's marketing campaign, like "it just works."

I don't know why Mac users get so defensive when you call them idiots. I mean, Apple is a company that has built its entire user base around the fact that its users can't do simple things like turn their computers on. Hell, most Mac users can't even talk without using their hands, which ranks their intelligence somewhere between a simian and hog shit

I am looking for a powerhouse of a box, quad core , dual monitors, kick ass video card, 4 gigs of ram or more and a tetrabyte of hard drive or more.

I only have money to get a new box every 5 years so I want to go all out and be good to go for 5 more years.
