"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." Teddy Roosevelt

"Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear." - President Harry S. Truman.

...should not be criticised?

It's plain to see who the real traitors to the USA are.

Undermining the President is counterproductive. Cutting off one's nose to spite one's face is always a bad idea.

Nixon would agree.

While Nixon had his problems, I think of him kindly for other reasons. I was living on my own at the age of 16. Nixon was president. Groceries and gas were going through the roof and all I had to live on was an itsy bitsy teeny weeny social security check and a part time job after school at $1.10 an hour. I had to pay my rent and electric bill out of that money as well as try to feed myself. Nixon put a freeze on prices going up. I was saved. I could eat and stay in school.
