The store I owned (and sold 4 years ago) in Barre is closing for good. My expartner sold all the shit to the local competition without even consulting me, which really pissed me off.

One of the bigger scrip customers wants to give me enough seed money to open another shop, just so he can continue to get his comics. He's a rich fuck, but his heart is in the right place.

I'm considering this, but he wants to open the store in Burlington, which makes sense, but there's a local shop already, believe it or not run by someone who limits the chioces and runs a shitty shop, but is also beyond wealthy, and has stated on one occasion that the only way she will be goaded into competition is if "some fool decides to open another shop on my turf". She claims to be able to give away comics until the competitions doors closed, and would, just for the satisfaction of "crushing the competition". Her store is the biggest fucking HOLE in the universe, btw.

The guy who wants to back me doesn't care if the store generates a profit or not, which would include my salary, and I would love to run a clean, well stocked, serviceable store again. Before the fall, it was my favorite thing to do.

I'm considering going after her, just because she's such a bitch, but I don't want to waste this guys time or money either.
 
People like her need to be beaten, just to show them that their whole reason for living is basically wrong.

Be upfront with the guy about the situation, and if he still wants in, do it. What do you have to lose? Just be sure to have an online site too, that way you'll have a thriving mail order business base that she can't do anything about. Let her give out candy to the yokels, just think bigger than her.
 
The ebay account is all set up, that would take care of any back issues, and I have almost 30,000 books for backstock still in the cellar.

My accounts with Diamond, and the other 5 minidistributors (Cold Cut, Last Gasp, et al) are all in good standing, I actually have a 10,000 4 week to pay credit limit with Diamond.

I'm meeting him on Wednesday.

If only Frank had got his store, I would've had the east, south and west covered...
 
It's a huge time commitment, but I've already done it successfully for many years, the Barre store grossed amost 125,000 the last year I ran it (2002), thats for a quarry town of about 8500.
 
Fuck Jack, if everything comes to pass, I could come out and visit, like we discussed, and write it off as a business expense.
