Cassie have you read 'Fevre Dream'?

CaptainWacky

I want to smell dark matter
It's a George R. R. Martin book about vampires on steamboats apparently and I just ordered it without asking you first. I feel dirty now.

I have heard of it, but I haven't read it yet. I was thinking about getting The Hedge Knight MAYBE I'LL GET FEVRE DREAM TOO.

I read Fevre Dream. It was all right. Read like really really good FK *Fanfic*. (I hate all other vampire shows.) If vampires and male relationships/friendships and period pieces aren't your cup of tea I suggest avoiding it.

I checked it out from the library instead of buying it. After reading it I decided not to buy it and I have never felt compelled to re-read it.

OH NO.. it's too late for Wacky to save his money.

Wacky, did you ever finish Dune? I know you didn't like very much, you HOBBIT.

That's okay . . . he might like it more than I did.

Anyone read Armageddon Rag? The paperback has been sitting around my place for the last five years waiting to be read.

I liked Dying of the Light (kind of depressing though) and Tuff Voyaging is a must-read.

I'm a bit over halfway through Dune now. I am enjoying it a bit more as it goes on. I'm reading Lord Of Light too and that is demanding more attention because it's quite complicated.

OH, I ordered the Left Hand Of Darkness and The Dispossessed too, DID I MENTION THAT?

Are those Martin books, Gonad? I really like his writing style (in Song of Ice and Fire anyway) so I'll probably check them out too.

I should read more SF...

I LOVE Ursula K Le Guin, Left Hand of Darkness is one of my top five favorite books EVER. The Dispossessed was good.. but I told you already that it isn't very exciting.

Now you need to order the other five Dune books, so you can get addicted to the spice.

I googled Armageddon Rag and it is by GRRM the wiki article doesn't say much though. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Armageddon_Rag

It tells of frustrated, ex-hippie novelist Sandy Blair as he becomes more and more deeply involved in the investigation of the murder of rock promoter Mr. Lynch. Lynch had managed several bands, including the legendary rock and roll group, the Nazgul. Lynch was found dead in highly suspicious circumstances on the tenth anniversary of the Nazguls breaking up; at a concert at West Mesa, Arizona, the Nazguls lead singer Patrick Henery Hobbins was murdered. The death of Mr Lynch opened the door for a Nazgul reunion tour, which begins to mirror the events of the previous tour. Sandy Blair is swept up in the frenzy of the hugely successful rock band, and must make choices that could affect the whole world.

Here's the wiki for Dying of the Light http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dying_of_the_Light

and Tuf Voyaging http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuf_Voyaging

Dying in the Light sounds like my kind of thing. ;)

I actually downloaded (ILLEGALLY) the Dune books. That's probably why it's taken me longer to read (I prefer reading paper to monitors.)

I've never read any of GRRM's science fiction, I'll have to check it out someday. I just really want A Dance with Dragons to come out NOW.

I don't like reading stuff on the monitor either. I like to sit outside to read and I can't take my desktop out there lolol. Paper is easier on the eyes too.

But if I bought every book, then I'd have no money for SPACEDRUGS.

You need a sugar daddy to buy books and space drugs for you.

I just found out they dont have Fevre Dream at my library. bah!

You should ask again about The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell, I know you'd like that curiousa2z. DO IT :rwmad: LOLOL

You should ask for "a little known book named Lord Of The Rings, doubt you've ever heard of it, just thought I'd ask..." then run away giggling like a maniac as they watch on, confused and unimpressed.

^could do , but seeing as this is a small town and I am well-known at the library it might be awkward.

besides, I actually do own that one.

AS SHOULD EVERYONE.

I can now check on-line for books - not one book by Mary Doria Russell, Cassie! :rwmad:

Cassie will you please list the Dune books in order for me?

Ok, but I'm not including the Rape of Dune by Kevin J. Anderson and Brian Herbert aka Pinky and the Brain.

Dune
Dune Messiah
Children of Dune
God Emperor of Dune
Heretics of Dune
Chapterhouse: Dune
