A lot of literature and comic stuff was damn harsh back in the day. It wasn't until Wertham and the fifties that people decided kids needed "protecting" from the world. Hell, we used to examine dead shit on the side of the road just to see what it looked like as the maggots ate it. Now you can't even have Cookie Monster eat a fucking cookie without washing it down with carrots...
