"Crash"

Elitist Redheaded Trollop
Eh...I saw it last night on SHO, and I can't say I was terribly impressed. So what if they dared to make a movie that shows racism. Or that for a huge city such as LA, every single person in the movie was linked. Now, I'm sure that was supposed to be for some reason, but I found it stupid.

Sandra Bullock/Brenden Fraser's storyline was ridicilous, but Don Cheadle and Terrence Howard gave good performances.

Not Oscar-worthy picture imo, but hey...what the hell do I know?

As I said to Darthsikle, who grew up with me in a black & white mixed neighborhood, "This is Hollywood's idea of white and black relations. They'll pat themselves on the back for making an 'edgy' film". I found it to be cliched, overly transparent, and very, very predictable.

Plus you could tell it was made by white guys who've never been around blacks at all. The most overrated film to ever win best picture? Maybe it's tied with American Beauty.

My thoughts exactly. And I grew up in the same kind of neighborhood.

I H A T E D "American Beauty." I found nothing at all spectaculor about it, and I think it's tied with "The English Patient" as the most horrid movie ever to win best picture.

On a plus side, and totally off topic, but DC is finally having an honest to gods thunderstorm!! One of the things I miss from Texas. <g>

It's amazing to me that people who live and work in L.A. have absolutely no idea of what L.A. is actually like.

No kidding. Every character-from the Latino kid "trying to do the right thing" to the Arab shopkeeper, to the black film producer-every single one was a stereotype or cliche. Awful.

I mean, WTF is up with Terrance Howard's character having a standoff with the police? I'm sorry, as bad as race relations are between blacks and the LAPD, there is no way in hell a rich black man would put his life in danger for Respec'. It's ludicrous. It was obviously just a set up to get you sympathetic to Ryan Phillipe's character, so you'd be "shocked" when he killed Don Cheadle's brother.

Seriously, the movie was a C+, at best. I mean, you know your movie is in trouble when Ludacris give one of the better performances.

Should I or shouldn't I waste $ 2.50 to rent this DVD?

Almost did last night but I wanted to see the Harry Potter movie first .....;)

They don't live in L.A., they live in Hollywood. A very different animal entirely.

Ugggh. Moral of the story, If you are a blantant racist, everything will turn up good in the end. If you are comfortable with other races, you'll get fucked in the end.

Check out Hustle and Flow for an excellent Terrance Howard performace. Much better than this.

I acturally preferred the 1998 movie of the same name where people set up auto accidents and had orgies in the crashed remains.

Dude, we grew up in the ghetto. If by mixed you mean mine and your family being the only whites, then yeah, I guess it was mixed.

I can appreciate American Beauty more and more as my daughter gets older. That's all I wanna say on that subject.

You have such a life that in only three months you've made almost 2,000 posts here? Whereas I don't even have 500 and I've been here for a couple of years.

Some life, I tell ya. I'm jealous.

Sweetheart? How fast can you type? I thank you for your attention. I could post 5,000 times in the time it takes you to post 500. *winks knowingly*. Now see fit to run along.
