missmanners

grrrrrrrr...
I need a new/different notebook ASAP. What I thought was a power cord problem is probably both a battery problem and the little pin thingie inside the laptop that the power cord plugs into problem. I have a brand new powercord (manufacturers) and it wont stay powering. Any little jiggle shuts it down. To compound the problem the battery only charges about 10% of the time and when it shows fully charged, it will only last about 3 minutes before giving me a battery low message and going into hibernate..

I've priced a new battery ($100+) and whatever $$$ to fix the plug thingie and I'm not sure it's worth putting a bunch of $$$ into a nearly 4 year old laptop (it's a Compaq elcheapo anyway) and everything on it's HD will have to be transfered to the "new" HD.. I really do need a replacement of some kind yesterday since I use it for work.... Has anyone ever used a reconditioned laptop? What kinds of questions do I need to ask the person selling me the replacement?

;)

I just got an HP Pavillion zv6000, and it's been working great for me. Only had it about three months or so, so I can't tell if any problems will arise from it.

The only problem this thing has is that the battery only has a 2 hour lifetime........if that.

Other than that, it's a great little thing. :)

Look up Winbook.

My dad is still using his Winbook Windows95 machine, and its going strong. And it's "Reconditioned". I'll probably get my next computer from them.

*swish* I have a Japanese import Sony Viao laptop. *swish*

If your laptop is four years old and giving you trouble MM then get a new one. Expensive I know but it will work out better in the long run. It's a bummer this has happened to you on the run up to Christmas.
