Canadian is Now the New 'N' Word
In the southern states, 'Canadian' has now become the new slur racists use when referring to blacks. Instead of using the "N" word, racist now use the term "Canadian."
According to Texans from Houston, “Canadian” is just another word for "nigger." This was discovered this week when a columnist who writes for the Houston Chronicle found an email from Mike Trent who is the district attorney in Harris County, Texas.
Apparently, Mike Trent wrote a note congratulating a junior prosecutor, in which he used the term "Canadians" to describe the blacks on a jury.
The email read, "He overcame a subversively good defence by Matt Hennessey that had some Canadians on the jury feeling sorry for the defendant and forced them to do the right thing."
The grounds for such alleged accusations of the use of the term "Canadians" and its hidden meaning is listed on an online racial slurs database that defines "Canadian" as a code for the word "nigger."
"In his own defence, Trent said he honestly thought there had been Canadians on the jury and did not understand the negative connotation of the word.”

Henry Wells, a Texan and media relations officer with the Canadian Consulate General in Dallas, disputes that the term “Canadian” is the code word for "nigger" because according to him, prior to this incident, he has never heard the term used as a racial slur.
The news spread quickly to other areas in southern US where Southerners are rather shocked and confused about this revelation. In Cincinnati, a female blogger reported that a black friend from the southeastern part of the U.S. had just recently learned that she was being referred to as a “Canadian.” She told her friend that while she was working at the store that she overheard some of the customers complain that they were "always waited on by a Canadian at that place.” Since she didn’t know what they were talking about, she assumed they were referring to someone else. However, after repeated incidents with other patrons, she brought the subject up to one of her co-workers. He told her that “Canadian” was the new slur which racists were now using to describe blacks they would've previously referred to as niggers.
In Kansas a waitress also reported that “fellow workers used the term for inner-city families that were known to not leave a tip.
As a Canadian, I'm not certain how to take this. Are we expected to get lynched? Or should Southern blacks who are referred to as Canadians take it as a compliment? After all, aren't we superior to our American cousins?
