So Daredevil "drops" on Netflix tomorrow but I'm guessing me the Tomtrek are the only people who'll watch it and he won't post in this thread because he hates me anyway. I doubt I'll watch more than four episodes a day so I'll finish it on...Tuesday?
I've watches the first four episodes so far - I really like it.
I really like how they balance the mix of Matt Murdoch lawyer stuff and the Daredevil punching people stuff. I like how Daredevil is basically just More Interesting Batman (at least at this point). I like how this show really mind being really gritty and gory when it needs to be, especially when something like Agents of SHIELD gets so bland sometimes. I like how they frame the destruction of New York as something that just lead to more problems. I like Deborah Ann Woll.
It was very good. Great acting and direction. Fight scenes were some of the best yet seen in comic book adaptations! Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll and Guy Who Played Wilson were the standouts but the whole cast was very good.
Some people didn't like the red costume but I thought it looked pretty good.
IF I WAS COMPLAINING I would say it got slightly slow in the middle? Like not in a "I want more fights" way but it seemed to repeat the same points quite a few times (the "vigalantee or TERRORIST" stuff and some of the Foggy/Karen/ Ben conversations) but since I've watched so many similar shows and movies that probably didn't help. And I really liked the episode with Stick and that was directly in the middle so don't take "the middle" literally!
The seemed to be setting stuff up for Iron Fist with the old Chinese woman and Stick's mysterious metting with...someone.
Yeah, I just watched episode 7, which FYI (weirdly forshadowed by my comment about this in the GoT thread) is The Stick episode. It could've felt like things were slowing down, since it was all flashbacky, but the guy playing the Stick, the dialogue, and the fight sequences were more than enough to hold interest and actually made it one of the best episodes. I'm still waiting for them to explore a bit more how his super sensing works or looks. The "world's on fire" shot was cool, but other than that we've not seen much.
I was surprised they never showed his "radar sense" but maybe they didn't want to remind people of Ben Affleck. There were times when I thought "wait how does he know where everything is when he's running about" (the parkour scene WHICH WAS COOL) but I just decided that he smells everything.
