Desmond theory

I just had a thought, what if the reason he could see the future after turning the failsafe, is not because the failsafe threw him back in time temporarily, its because he was getting his memories back from the first time he experience the island in 04 through the memories of his 96 time travel from the helicopter and boat.

If this is true, then he must have done that loop many times, as he has saved Charlie over and over, and he can only have the memories of one Charlie death at a time.

You can speculate that this represents Desmonds last loop, since Charlie finally died, and all the other times he saved Charlie as full loops lived by Desmond from the failsafe to the helicopter.

No wonder he went a little mad with all those slightly different versions of reality rattling around in his brain.

I like it. It's a solid theory. It also seems in line with what the writers have been hinting at through literature influences and the like as well.

I bet when Desmond starts getting further away from the island he'll become unstuck in time again and he'll have to travel back to the island and stay there to avoid getting sick...and Penny will go there with him (since it seems like she's going to be on her way there.)

He likes to make a mess of other peoples bathrooms, he probably deliberately pisses outside the bowl too.

There was a theory somewhere that water triggers Desmond's time travel (he was flying over the ocean when it started, it was raining in the army etc) and Widmore left the tap on to trigger another jump.
