Did Storm do WF a favor?

I've been thinking about that question for awhile and tonight, after seeing some of Elwood's posts and the significant drop in activity over at WF my answer is yes.

I know that most of the posters here think that the shitstorm that he stirred up with his recent troll was anywhere from reprehensible to just plain stupid but it shed light on some serious flaws in the way that the place is run. These problems have bobbed to the surface in the past during lowlights like the martial law escapade but they were quickly patched over by the staff and ignored. Elwood tried to do something similar to put a cap on the CM/GE mess and he looked like he just might be able to do it until Storm made a quick resolution impossible by ramming the SS Wordforge with his little dingy boat filled with trolling explosives. He made the cracks in WF's hull so big that they can't just be quickly patched over, things can't go back to normal without the flaws that have plagued the board for months being seriously addressed or the whole shebang being deepsixed and most of the membership starting over somewhere else.

Trolling with personal information might seem low but in the end I think that the WF community as a whole will be better off because of it.

I've been having problems with the increasing staff disconnection for a while now. Which is why I would take a few months breaks now and then in between posting.

I don't think WF is at a point of breaking up any time soon. But the ranks are decreasing instead of increasing. I know some will say that is it just because the troublemakers are finally gone. I do believe people are seeing more hypocrisy from the administration and getting disillusioned and just not coming around as often.

Any favor Storm did was unintentional.
