Forever Empress E
Django Unchained is definitely a Quentin Tarantino movie. As is to be expected, this movie is pretty brutal in parts. It is also quite funny in many parts. The story is interesting. The blood splatters. Love it when the bad guys get what they deserve.
The soundtrack was weird and fascinating. Loved the John Denver tune right there in the middle and the promenade at just the right moment.
Love it that Franco Nero who was Django in the old official Italian spaghetti Westerns named Django made a brief appearance in this newest movie of the same name. Yes, Franco Nero is older than dirt but he is still a sexy beast. He'll forever be Lancelot to me.
Samuel L. Jackson was stellar - as always.
Leonardo DiCaprio can't help himself - he is very, very, very good. There is one scene that made me a fan of his all over again - even though he is the bad guy in this movie.
Jamie Foxx was great. First movie I've seen him in that I didn't wish he'd put the silly crap aside and just play the piano. No - I haven't seen Ray.
Christopher Waltz was most excellent too. I hadn't heard of him before this movie but I will be looking for him now.
Don Johnson was a treat. Where the heck has he been?
The N word is used a great deal in this movie. It fit the time period but it is still rough hearing it said over and over again like that.
There is a lot of violence including a particularly gruesome scene where dogs tear a person apart.
The audience I was in was very mixed in age, gender, and ethnicity but I wouldn't take children to see this movie.
There are plot holes and some dubious historical facts but it is still an interesting story told very well. Then again, I've been a Tarantino fan since Kill Bill.
I was concerned about the length of this movie - nearly 3 hours. It turned out okay. Glad I get a small drink or I might have missed some of this movie and that wouldn't be good.
