Does Mario actually love Luigi?

He's abnormally tall. It's awkward to be seen with him except on his own island, where the chairs are all too low for the tables.
 
I adore the "Luigi as creepy pedophile" route Nintendo has been taking with his character ever since Luigi's Mansion.
 
I've been playing a new game called "Super Mario Galaxy" (seriously!) lately and he's such a whiney little punkass in it. Even the toads are more likable.
