You can buy doggie treats that contain glucosamine chondroitin which is good for joint pain, inflammation, and arthritis. It can be rather expensive. You can also buy human grade glucosamine chondroitin, which is much better and much cheaper. If they won't take the pills, you can wrap the pill up in food - like a peanut butter sandwich.

You can also give them asprin for pain. Smaller doses for smaller animals.

Try to stay away from hydrocodone because it will make them have nightmares.
