Earthquake

I heard a very loud boom, I could feel the quake comin', my stomach turned, my body started to shake and I bolted upright in bed. My first thought was snatching up the children and saving their lives, it was going to be a big one, I knew it.

And then, nothing. A short time later I heard another boom and then the phone rang. My brother was checking on the kids, the earthquake shook him good. His place must be near the epicenter because nothing moved even a hair here.

I hate earthquakes so much, the tiniest shake gets my stool loose and all because of the damn Northridge quake more than 10 years ago. That thing has screwed me up for life. I have panic attacks if I'm stuck in traffic under a freeway overpass.

My niece is talking in her sleep now, gotta go...
