Do you own a car? Living in Manhattan, a car is impractical, right?

I haven't owned a car since 1991, and have only driven a handful of times since 1993.

It's completely unnecessary to own a car in Manhattan. If you're rich and feel like spending the price of an apartment on monthly garage fees, you can. Otherwise, when you need to get behind the wheel for a long getaway, you rent.

That is, if you bother to keep your driver's license current, which I haven't for several years now.

^^When I lived in downtown Philly, my rent was $750 a month and a parking space was $210!

Now, living in the 'burbs, not owning a car seems like such a strange concept! Heh.

I have a car here but I don't find the need to drive it much. In summer I use it to get to the beaches and bars on the resort side of the island which is handy though.
