I need some human TOUCHY TOUCHY HUGGY HUGGY contact tonight. Or some chocolate. Mmm, Haagen-Dazs Chocolate Sorbet, I'll be hitting the freezer when I get home...

doesn't it make more sense to write day/month/year - DD/MM/YY ?
 
Neither way makes more "sense" than the other, it's a preference based on grammar. Americans say March 12th, not 12 March like others do. So it gets abbreviated that way as well.

other English-speaking countries use either of the above. there's no distinction except when it comes to abbreviation.
 
My point is that Americans never say 12 March, hence the single-minded way we abbreviate it in writing, with Month first.
 
Fuck it all. When its my time of the month, I don't give a flying fuck which comes first. Just make sure you have plenty of fucking Midol and Ice Cream, fuckers. :D
