So, a friend of mine just sent me this game... I don't really know anything about it. Is it great? Am I going to vanish into this RPG never to be heard from again? Will my mom have to bring me a bucket so I can poop?

Yes.

It's a great game. Just watch out for the FUCKING CLIFF RACERS GODDAMN SKDSDFOAPSTOWI E-230I 51345!#$^@@#?ASgas?d>%@#?!

Ha.. I have the game of the year addition, I haven't read the booklet yet, but I think that means I've got two additional maps or something. I hope this doesn't cause my computer to act all stupid and crash a lot. I may have to come off the money I've been saving and get a new one :rwmad:

Fuck Cliff Racers up their stupid asses.

Yah, Morrowind is a great game and no doubt. Completed it some years back. Oblivion is fucking awesome as well though you need a hefty computer to be able to play it.

The box says Morrowind, Tribunal, and Bloodmoon. I was reading the minimum system requirements and I don't think I can play it. Probably need a faster video card. I DON'T KNOW. I'm planning to buy a new computer anyway.

It is a pretty heavy game, system requirements wise, and a pretty involved story.
I have yet to tap into it properly.
But there are tons of add-ons you can get online.

According to the box, I have twice the system requirements necessary.. but I've heard the box sometimes lies. My computer has a hard time with bejeweled, because it's a cheap piece of crap (hopefully the little demon that lives in the hard drive can't read).

I don't have the money or knowledge to build my own computer.. so I'm gonna have to buy one of those already built-comes with a printer things, I just don't know what brand to get. I've heard bad things about all of them, I just want one that is much mo' bettah than this eMachine.

When you order, just tell them that need one that will play a grachic heavy game.

They'll upgrade the video card amd the ram. That should do it.

Or alternately, you could ask myself or Menty (the real guru) what you would need to build one yourself and then we could help you through it.

Seriously, a computer that costs $1,500 in Best Buy goes for $600 total parts cost on NewEgg. And it's fun building stuff!

it should be newegg.com - there's also frys.com, they're good too.

bookmarked.

I've been having computer problems lately.

Good to know.

I might just take you up on your computer building skills MR ISHCABITTLE.. then I"ll be an evil computer genius too.

Seriously, dude - Menty and I went through a parts list that totaled $450.00US, and my PC kicks some serious booty.

The only tricky part is that durn assembly, but there's no reason you couldn't do it - it's suprisingly simple when you sit down with all the parts in order.

Unpack parts (easy).
Grab the brass motherboard screws and screw 'em into the case.
Grab the motherboard and set it on top of the brass screws.
Screw in the motherboard (sexy sounding, but not).
Plop your processor in the motherboard.
Plop your processor fan on the processor and connect the fan to the motherboard.
Snap your RAM in to its slots.
Snap your video card into its slot.
Throw your hard drive into the case and attach power and data cables.
Throw your optical drive into the case and attach power and data cables.
Attach the rest of the power cables.
Attach the front panel connectors to the motherboard.
Connect any other fans to power.
Close up the case and GET READY FOR SOME UNBRIDLED PC POWER!!!

I've built seven PCs now, some for me, some for customers, but Menty's got the numbers to beat mine - I'm sure there are several hundred PCs with the Menty flair on 'em. Between the two of us, we could really burn some shit down.

Unless... I could talk you into a Mac...

Haha.. I have never used a Mac, I would love to have one... but I hear they're more expensive than PCs. Anyway, I've got $900 I can spend on a computer at this time.

Have I mentioned that I own two older powerMacs?
a 6300 and a 8100.

Inrerested at all?

Ishcabittle is right and of course we would be more than happy and willing to walk you through the nuts and bolts (don't worry, there aren't any!) of building a computer from a site like Newegg.

Computer building -as well as teaching, software, hardware, networking-has basically been my profession for pushing 6 years so you don't have to put in the legwork to read up on all that droll (sometimes) tech news so you get the best deal. Just post here and we will make sure you're at least on the right track.

Also, as it happens, Ishc will be pleased to hear that I have been using an iBook a lot this year and I have to say that there is a lot less fucking around than with Windows and it just does what you ask it to..every time, without fuss.

It really does depend on what your intentions of use are though. A Windows machine is still the only viable option (for a layman) if you intend to play games on a regular basis but for everything else I am seriously warming to Apple's no fuss no muss way of 'operating.'

Since one of my two PCs died and I had to swap out some pieces, I now have a shell and motherboard to work with. Cool!

I will check out Newegg today, just to get an idea of everything and set up an account. Since I am on dial up, all the really cool MMORPGs are out of the question. I would like to be able to play some PC games that can be played offline though. So.. probably a huge amount of memory is unnecessary, but I'd like to have more than what I've got.. shit I don't even really know what I've got at the moment... 2.67 GHz and 504 MB of ram WHATEVER THAT MEANS. I'd like to keep the computer that I have for back up purposes, it might be a piece of crap but it gets me online, so that would mean I have to buy everything for a second one.

ANYWAY thank you both in advance for the help I'll be begging you for. NOW DON'T DISAPPEAR WHEN I NEED YOU :rwmad: <-- in case you do disappear when I need you.

I have a slightly better computer than that, and it plays like a charm. As long as you've got a slightly decent video card, you'll be fine.
