Elwood's Crumbling Empire

Eliteforge's defense grid is smashed ! Massive defections abound as the rats flee from the sinking ship. Their High Command has resorted to publicly executing scapegoats such as BearTM and Storm, who, while not free of guilt, were still enabled by the corrupt, bloated institution which is Eliteforge.

Now that the shock has worn off, I feel that I need to say something about our girl, Tamar. She’s been my right hand, my confidant, my friend, and my avenging angel. I truly am sorry to see her step down. But, I can’t blame her because I needed a break not to long ago myself.
How embarrassing it must be for you, oh pimp o' pimps, that she steps down in the same week you reiterate your support of your "second in command".

With Tamar's self-purge, Eliteforge is at its weakest. Now is the time to strike at the virtual jugular and put down this sick dog once and for all, lest it gains enough strength to take on physical form once again !!!

I don't think WF is anywhere near "death" or that we're in danger of becoming obsolete. But, there's always room for improvement. How about instead of reacting to the staff's choices, you, the membership, give us ideas about how to improve WF?

evenflow has been talking to me about transparency for awhile and I'm starting to agree with him. That's why we've done away with the DNR threads in the Shelter.

But, what are your ideas? Some we'll work through and some we won't. You're really going to have to sell some of them to me. Let's just have a cozy little fireside chat.

The first sentence betrays how out of touch the elites are with the peasant folk. Behold as they offer breadcrumbs to the starving masses.

Do not be fooled by the deceiver. If you allow yourself to be taken in by empty promises once again, you will find yourselves once again standing at the edge of oblivion of freedom.

Everything the Forge Liberation Army predicted has come to pass. Though many casualties have been claimed, all participants in our war of independence from self-appointed "betters" understand their sacrifice has not been in vain.

It is difficult to maintain composure while I send this. The battle has been long and hard, and we wish to return to our Bar threads and Titty posts. But we shall fight on to the last man, for a free Wordforge is the only possible incarnation ! Accept no substitutions !

For The Cause !

Yeah, right. That's been tried before. There was a forum at WF called the Prometheus Room, or some such. It was meant as a forum for members to give suggestions to improve the board.

Elwood's reaction?

"This is a dictatorship". And the forum was dissolved.

I kid you not.

No change is forthcoming. That post was meant to placate the masses.

I think you need a good rousing, flag waving, militant, inspiring, over the top, soaring Wagnarian overture to go with your speech. Might go a long way towards garnering interest in your campaign and recruitment into your troll army. That and a spiffy arm patch so your guys can show comraderie and solidarity with your cause.

Allow me to translate....nooo...allow me to sum up...

Actually, the Prometheus project got shut down because Darwin stepped down as Tech Administrator and Borgs tried to get the board shut down over it in an act of vengeance. I'm an okay coder, but I can't hand code entire systems, otherwise, I wouldn't be working at a grocery store I tells ya.

So try again.

That might be true, but the project was going nowhere, anyway. No changes were implemented, and the room saw very little traffic.

BTW, I hope your brother is doing well. Board BS aside, I do think about him once in awhile, mostly when I'm at work.

The project was being worked on...coding takes time you know. But what can you do when the guy who was teaching the others walked?

Or now is it time to pick on any and every little thing in the attempt to make everything worse?

There are plenty of legit issues without nitpicking ancient history that was never an issue and overblown dramatics like this thread.

You were offered negotiations before, but you spurned them.

The time for talk is past.

Quite right.

We are a dictatorship. A benevolent dicatatorship, but a dictatorship nonetheless.

It will continue to be this way as long as I'm the sole proprietor.
...is a legit, relevant isssue.

Which is it? Will he honor feedback, or does he still consider WF a "benevelont dictatorship"?

He does listen to feedback, but in the end it is his decision..that is all that means.

His mind can be changed, I've done it so I know.

I just think it would be easier and more productive to ask for things in a reasonable way. It would stand a better chance of penetrating and not put anyone on the defensive. *shrug*

Tamar condemns nitpicking, ancient history, and overblown dramatics......

hmmmmmmmmm.....

I smell irony.

"In the end it is his decision." "His mind can be changed."

Doesn't sound like the mentality of someone who considers members' input with any validity. In the end, it is what he wants.

Yes, in the end he pays the bills. And members are free to accept the fact that the buck stops there.

It seems, however, there are an increasing number of members who are NOT willing to accept that fact. They want a voice in what happens. They want that feeling back that they had when WF was first opened...that they are all in it TOGETHER.

Not only if the board owner deems their wishes credible.

WF used to be a co-op. Now it is a dated apartment building run by a slumlord and his "lieutenants".

One word: EFCL.

Elwood takes input. At the end of the day, he makes the decision after evaluating what he's received from poster and mods. And therefore, at the end of the day, he gets either the praise or the bricks.

Democracies online don't work. Neither do dictatorships. One should shoot for something in-between.
