Ever wonder what happened to the "Eight is Enough" kids?

Colonel Kira's Left Tit

Bearded Belly of Bajor
Well, so did I, so I went to the trouble of compiling this list!

Grant Goodeve (David Bradford):
· Had a serious drinking problem until a car crash finally convinced him to turn his life around.
· Dated his TV sister Laurie Walters.
· (1999) Lives in Seattle with his wife and children: Two daughters and a son. Hosts documentaries.
· (2001) Now a born-again Christian, Grant is hosting "If These Walls Could Talk" in Seattle on the Home & Garden television network.

Lani O’Grady (Mary Bradford):
· Sister of Don Grady.
· Found dead in her home in Valencia, California. [25 September 2001]
· In a 1994 Times interview, O'Grady said she had long suffered from severe panic attacks, which led to her abusing prescription drugs and alcohol for more than a decade.
· Lani was working as a talent agent (like her mother, Mary Grady, who was one of Hollywood's top children's agents) at the time of her death.
· Born Lanita Rose Agrati, she changed her name to Lani O'Grady after landing her role in "Eight Is Enough" (1977), a comedy-drama that starred Dick Van Patten as the newspaper columnist father of eight children. The series ran from 1977 to 1981.
· According to toxicology tests, she died of a drug overdose, she had fatal levels of Vicodin and Prozac in her bloodstream. [16 January 2002]
· Was cremated and her ashes scattered in Hawaii.

Laurie Walters (Joanie Bradford):
· Dated her TV brother 'Grant Goodeve'
· (1999) Is married and lives in LA, where she works as an environmentalist.
· Is fucking 60 years old.

Dianne Kay (Nancy Bradford):
· Best remembered for her roles on TV's "Eight is Enough" and Steven Spielberg's “1941†(1979).
· (1999) Lives in LA, where she is a full-time mom.
· How boring.

Willie Aames (Tommy Bradford):

· During his Eight Is Enough years, he formed a rock band (Willie Aames & Paradise). His band made appearances on an Eight Is Enough episode, The Easter Seals Telethon, United Cerebal Palsy Telethon & Kids Are People Too.
· Favorite past times are hunting, fishing, and woodworking.
· (2000) Lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife and daughter, and works as a children's pastor. He also tours the country as Bibleman.
· (2003) Has announced that he will be stepping down from the part of Bibleman in the touring production so that he may spend more time with his family.
· (July 2005) Competing on VH1's Celebrity Fit Club 2.
· “You get to a point where you have one of two choices. You either put a gun to your head or you pray.â€
· "When I listened to this guy on the radio, he seemed to understand what was going on with me. So Maylo and I checked this guy out at his church. We sat in the back and had a terrific time. People were warm and friendly. They didn't seem to mind that I was dressed in leather and that my girlfriend had purple hair. It didn't matter to them what we looked like or who we were. It only mattered that we were there." (On getting clean and sober and going to church).

Susan Richardson (Susan Bradford):
· Daughter, Sarah, born 27 March 1980.
· Gained roughly 90 pounds with her pregnancy, and then turned to cocaine to help her lose the weight because she feared being fired.
· In 1999, she suffered a nervous breakdown, and was hospitalized and placed on suicide watch. She was later released, and has now fully recovered.
· Claims that in the 1980s, she was held hostage in Korea by filmmakers who tried to kill her. She now says that the disbelief of others in Hollywood is what ruined her career because she could not find work.

· Adam was arrested several times from 1983-91 for drugs, shoplifting & breaking and entering.
· In April 1991, he smashed a pharmacy window in an attempt to steal drugs. He was arrested and was bailed out by his TV dad, Dick Van Patten. He was almost immediately rearrested, this time for shoplifting. He pled no contest to both charges.

THE MORE YOU KNOW…

Clearly it never travelled the Channel to British waters. I've never heard of it either. I still read the whole post for some strange reason though.

Me too, I felt that by the time I had got half way, I had invested too much time into it not to finish.

It was a pretty timid hourlong family drama with humor, when all is said and done. But at the time all the actors seemed to have a chemistry, and they would sometimes tackle interesting topical stories. I watched it regularly when I was a kid.

Also the show received attention when the actress who played the mother in the first few episodes died of cancer. At the time she was dating John Travolta, who was just starting to catapault from TV teen idol to movie star.

They wrote it into the show and the father became a widower for a year, until they cast Betty Buckley as a love interest who eventually became the stepmother.
